I have recently realized something that i think is crucial to every mans success. This is my first post here so forgive me if this has been discussed before.
But the key is to analyze things and to see if you really want a girl friend or a relationship. Is that really what you want?
I was in love with girl X for a long time and still am, a pretty severe case of "oneitis" I Thought about her and think about her all the time, when i wake up before i go to sleep and when i dream. It has just dawned on me however that i don't necessarily want girl x back. Sure she was great, but i have non intentianlly built her up in my imagination to something non existent.
I don't want to be together with girl x anymore, i really just want to forget, forgive and move on.
And those are the hardest things to do....Figuring things out in your mind for yourself. It is a cliche to want a girl friend and a solid relationship. I want what i want, if you want a girl friend that is great but i personally want to get my band going. I want to do a lot of other things as well.
I personally fell into a classic trap of not progressing any. And with that non progression brought a lot of questions about what i wanted. I started to question my every move. I stopped improving myself. I was thinking about past mistakes and regretts too much to look 10 feet ahead of me. I started to wonder what was going on. Friendships started to dissolve because i was not enjoying my own company. IF YOU DO NOT ENJOY YOUR OWN COMPANY NO ONE ELSE WILL. just repeat that sentence back and see if it holds any ground.
The thing is falling into this hole is such a slow progression when you are in it you may not realize it. Hopefully we can all recognize it before we have dug too deep to get out. Try to appreciate yourself, and i dont necesarily mean going to the gym to get ripped, i mean the simple things you pay no attention to anymore. Pay attention to the little things and i believe the other things will fall into place for you.
