What exactly is a "douchebag" or a "tool"?

From what I have seen, these are just guys that ooze maybe a little "too much" confidence (if there was ever such a thing), they dress extra stylish/brand-name, and they pretty much have an azzhole mentality - at the same time, they have sex with mostly hot girls, and they usually end up getting the girls that they want.

I understand nerdy guys, geeks, goobers, and straight up chumps hating on these kinds of guys - it's called jealousy.

My question is - why can't these "men" (the nerds, ect ect), use some logic, and maybe LEARN from these "douchebags" instead of being so hateful towards guys who have the success with women that most other men desire to have?

Start getting along with your fellow man, and stop being such a jealous little chump who can only muster up bitterness, instead of seeing the situation in a logical manner.

Douchebag is a person who tries to compensate for his lack of confidence and his insecurities with a facade of what only appears to be an overly too-confident and self-centered man. Douchebags are fake and try to fake it till they make it - that is why they end up behaving in a ridiculous and sometimes dumb manner.

The a*shole/jerk is the real deal. That is why you see them call people who fall short in this manner - "douches". Also a smart a*s is quick to pick a douche from the crowd.

These people are usually successful with insecure and dumb women who are just as crazy as they are.

The female counterpart of the douche is the AW, and I personally detest both of these pretentious types.




The 'tool' is an aspiring douche or a wanna-be-cool person who is being used by other without realizing it.




Edit: I also have to add that if one is ever called any of the both, they have failed miserably to be Mr. Sosuave at the first place.

no blame it on the media that such guys exist. we are always told since we were young from shows to not be a jerk, not to be a douche, but instead play nice and be the nice guy cause the nice guy gets the girl in the end.

It's not the media, it's simply people who can not look at things critically due to a lack of experience, also liberal crap, and political correctness. After 1 year of dating (In the Western countries) no nice guys are left. Only douches, tools and a-holes are left, the rest just go for guys . ha ha

I have a friend like this, he's built wears all that Ed Hardy stuff and similar clubbing brands, gels his hair and sometimes wears sunglasses. He gets women all the time, and the funny thing is he's one of the smartest and most philosophical people I know. We are in a society where we can judge a person based on the hour or two they are in clubs. Its kind of funny.

There is definitely such a thing as too much confidence, if that confidence is not based on substance and character. If one's motives are pure, like the Dalai Lama, then there is probably no such thing as too much self confidence.

Delusional self-confidence (arrogance) interferes with honest self-assessment. Suppose you are working with someone and everyone knows they are doing something wrong except for them, but when you tell them, they deny it due to arrogance. Problem? Yes.

Another potential problem with delusional self-confidence is that it will often lead to having less concern for others. It's funny that you mention brainwashing and the media, because the whole spirit of your post exemplifies the EXACT narcissistic mentality that is so prevalent on these boards and among today's college age population. It's as if you had never bothered to critically examine the values that happen to be exalted by the society you are immersed in. The main flaw in this type of ideology is that it only considers the individual. Often what is best for the individual is not best for the collective of all individuals in society. The highest philosophy would be the one that creates the highest level of happiness for all members of a given society--including those who are less fortunate--not just the particular individual who practices that philosophy.

Like dave chapelle said, if you're wearing a *hores uniform, don't mad when you get treated like a hore. Same thing with looking ala douche. He may be a great guy, but you gotta expect what you get. If I dressed like a thug, I get treated like a thug. If I wear a suit and tie I don't expect to be treated the same. Every "look" or style comes with baggage... you just gotta be man enough to put it on your back and keep walking.
