I can't really tolorate too many steaks too often but ground beef I can tolorate just fine and pretty much eat everyday.Everything from burritos to tacos, pasta, burgers, meat loaf, salsbury steaks, nachos etc. I'll maybe eat a nice steak once a week, twice at the most- seems to tie my stomach in knots, don't really like it fleshy and red, prefer it at least medium. what about you guys? is ground beef really the ultimate quick protein food? I once made beef bars, kinda like a protein bar but that didn't work out too well :nervous:

The cool thing about ground beef is that you can buy a big hunk of it,partion it,freeze and leave whatever ammount in the fridge. It's soo economical you can make nearly anything with it.

sweet.
For some reason steaks or heavy meats just don't sit well with me,chicken, pork, and anything else- fine, but a fatty steak more then once a week and I feel like I am passing a brick! I get plenty of fiber as well.
*shrugs* :D

Is there any difference among the red meats (buffalo, goat, cow) when it comes to anabolic properties?

I eat 0.6kg of ground beef a day. It's the staple of all my meals.

Buy the leanest ground beef you can buy. If it's only 80 or 90% fat free,so what it's better then nothing. I personally have been able to down 1/2 to 1 lb a day without any issues or a rising blood pressure.

Just make it on the George Foreman;

-Put the patty on the Grille

-Cut lines down/stab the patty(let's more fat drain out)

-Flip the patty(get more fat out and ensure that it's cooked properly

-Enjoy

Personally I'd down Ground Turkey before Beef if it's possible,it's just preference.

I can get 80/20 beef for $2.60-3. I can get 73/27 beef for $1.50-$1.80. 93% is $3.40+, usually over $4, and there is no 85% around here.

Guess which i've been buying.

Have you guys been seeing ground beef go on sale lately? I haven't seen a sale since memorial day(us). Is demand for it up in the summer or something? I used to stock up on a lot of 93/7 during a sale but haven't had the chance in a while.

when you say ground beef, we all know what you mean.
however when you go to the store to purchase the ground beef , there are actually 3 types.
there are ground beef, ground chuck and ground round.
the beef is the cheapest, has more fat, so when it cooks, it shrinks the most.
the ground round is the most expensive and supposed to be better for you.
so i buy ground chuck...
its better for you than the beef but doesnt shrink up as much, and a little cheaper for a family meal than the round.

since i shop for a family, and i don't like to go to the store alot, i buy those big 5 lb logs and come home and divide it up into four sections and wrap it in foil and freeze it for that week.

gio's momma buys in bulk too, but she prefers to go on and cook hers up and then freeze it in those quart freezer bags. she says it saves her time later.

blame skyrocketing corn feed prices...and for that, blame the surging interest in ethanol.
