Somehow its getting automatic for me to keep rest between sets shorted than usual, the usual one is 90secs but I found myself ready after 45-60sec as long as its not a heavy exercise.
Its very hot outside so I simply cannot relax as in winter.

Any benefit comes from it apart a major pump and saved time?

After resting 60 seconds between a set I hear you recover 72% of your strength. If your not training heavy then I'd say your okay with shorter rest periods. But, remember to pace youself, training too fast can cause cardiovascular failure before you have worked the muscle enough. Or you could have a tendancy to get sloppy and strart throwing weights around.

1 min rest between light warm-up sets.

2 min rest between heavier warm-up sets.

5 min rest between heavy worksets on squat/dead/bench/milpress.

3 min rest between sets on assistance movements.

I don't think it matters too much for assistance movements. Do what you want, however I'd stay as consistent as possible. That is, keep precise track of how long between sets, so you can accurately gauge your improvement over time.

If you aren't doing cardio and want to stay conditioned, consider less rest time between sets to maintain elevated heart rate.

If you are doing cardio and not worry about conditioning, take as long as you want between sets (but keep consistent) to recover properly, without getting cold.

When I do a workout with little rest between sets, I walk out of there feeling like I got a great workout.

However, when I think back on it, I did less sets, lower weights, and get less of a cardio workout as I would have doing some HIIT after lifting.

I think it's a great idea to mix it up every now and then, or if you have a time constraint, but I wouldn't use that method on a regular basis.
