My aunt went to USA from Albania about 8 years ago. I was about 15 back then, had no problems with her at all, instead loved her a lot.
Fast forward to December 2015, while at my other aunt's in Greece, me and her have a discussion, a heated one, but not in a bad way, about abortion and prolife/prochoice thing over Skype. She is a hard christian and not one that was indoctrinated as a child, but one that chose to become herself when she was about 20 years old, so she's the "real deal" in this aspect. Her stance was on the prolife, my stance back then was on the prochoice.
Fast forward to end of August 2016. I notice that for a long time, probably since back in December when we had the "argument" over Skype, my aunt has not been liking or commenting on anything on my social media although she is active and likes/comments on my brother's, mom's, father's, grandparents' and all the other relatives. I was like "hmm, sth is off here..." so I take her off of Facebook to see if she even notices. She notices the day of my birthday, 4th of September last year, and writes to me telling me that "I hope there is no misunderstanding towards us about anything, I wanted to wish you happy birthday and I saw you had removed me, but it's OK, I love you, happy birthday" and I tell her about what I thought and she gives me this (so I perceived it and perceive at least) bull**** about how she doesn't wanna comment on my posts because her now 17/18 year old daughter tells her all the time "Mom, it's not cool to have your mom or aunt comment on posts cause friends see and I don't like it" so apparently, she thought I had the same thoughts about her commenting or liking. It seemed like bull**** to me, just an excuse, but anyways, we became friends again on Facebook and from that point on she has been active on my posts, whatever she likes.
Fast forward about two months ago when she gets promoted to a diplomatic position and is assigned to be in Macedonia for the next two years, very close to us and Albania. I have not seen my aunt in 8 years and she has not seen me either and since she came back. My father and my family visit to Skopje to see her and they stay there for two days, I could not go cause of work. Anyways, fast forward to about a week and a half ago, my now 19 year old girl cousin comes to my hometown, where my family lives, and stays there for a week at her uncle (my dad). Then she comes to Tirana to hang out with her ex-nanny that has brought her up since she was a little girl. When I find out she;'s here, baring in mind we have not seen each other in 8 years, I invite my cousin to go out and have a drink. And here's the main part now:
My cousin tells me that her mom (my aunt) has strictly told her not to move anywhere in the city without being accompanied by one of her nanny's daughters. This got me feeling weird. I mean, I am her first cousin, what could happen to her while she's with me? Nothing. I even offered to accompany her home myself, but she said she could not disobey her mom's orders LOL she's 19, I repeat. OK, I tell to myself "yeah, let it go, you'll see her next weekend when you visit Shkoder anyways, they'll all be there, together with the aunt".
About half an hour later, my mom calls me to ask what's up and I talk to her for a little while and among other things, she tells me that my aunt has specifically asked the wedding organizer (they're all going to a wedding of one of our cousins next weekend, my parents and my aunt with her husband) for her to be the only one out of everyone we know to bring her kids with her. This is what boggled my mind completely. As things stand, in this wedding, there have only been couples invited with no kids. My aunt could very well (the most logical thing to do) leave both her kids at my family's home, with me and my bro, we both gonna be there anyways, but she CHOOSES AND INSISTS to take her kids with her at the wedding where they know almost noone anyways.
Does this seem like she's trying everything she can for her kids not to be "alone" with me or am I looking to deep into this one?
