Hey whats up all. Ive been weight lifing for like 4 months, but Ive been thinking of taking a weight training class here at my university because Ive never had any formal instructions on how to do form, just the internet, haha. I mean, since i already lift weights, might as well get credit for it right? So what do you all think? have you guys done a class or anything? do you think they will make me do some weird routine that sucks or do you think they will allow me to go about with my own routine?

random question here too.... when you do skull crushers, does it matter if you use dumbbells instead of an ez bar? seems like dbs would be better for the elbow, but is there any downside of using dbs instead?

Thanks for all your help.

I say yay becaue you can get an easy A and you learn.

I prefer to use ez bar. Dumbells make that exercise kind of awkward IMO.

Cool, thanks for your input fatality.

I asked for a downside for dbs, and AFK protector gave me one :)

Take the class, it will teach you stuff that you might never learn otherwise as I assume it will be taught by a true strength and conditioning professional, not some personal trainer who might or might not know.

You will learn how to lift correctly to maximize your strength as well as learn the proper form to prevent injury. It will also provide you with an arsenal of exercises to do to target your development the best.

You would also most likely learn how to do power exericises like the snatch, clean and jerk, etc. with the power exericises, techniques is so critical.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

hmmmm, i dont actually think its taught by a professional :(. Not really sure what their qualifications are.... but its probably just a personal trainer. Ive never seen anyone do power exercises in our gym. I dont think we have the room for that, haha.

I guess the most Im hoping for are the perfect forms and how to prevent injury. Im not sure about maximizing stregth though.

Actually, the more i think about it, I dont think the instructors are very qualified. I over heard one of them talking to one of his students, and the student said "i heard squats were good cause they release testosterone, letting the whole body grow more". The instructor was just like "ummm, i dont know. Im not too sure all the medical reasons, but I know they are good". Soooo, i dont know.

I would say Nay.

Its good in theory, but at my school they base you on gains. If you don't gain alot, regardless of how hard you work, then you don't get an A. This leads to people pacing themselves throughout the year and they don't get the most out of it then if they came in after school and worked how they want to.

There must be some football players or baseball players in your dorm, bug them and ask them next time they lift to show you proper form for lifting. All it takes is the first few times for form, and after that you will not need someone to watch your form (Although it is always nice to have someone do that for you).

Its not worth it in my opinion.
