I just read an interesting article over at CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Midwest/04/28/offbeat.hello.scott.ap/index.html

Basically, this young guy ALWAYS wears a name tag that says "Hi, my name is Scott". It sounds like he's been getting excellent results with this technique (the article isn't about Dj'ing but rather talking to people in general).

I don't know if I'd wear a name tag 24/7, but it sounds like it might be a cool experiment one day. It *might* sound a little dumb to wear a name tag for no reason, so if someone asked me, I'd say something like, "I just came back from a meeting" or something.

What does everyone else think?

Sorry, this was to hard to resist. Errr... Unless, you are at a hotel convention, seminar or training session... leave the friggen name tag at home... Gay gay gay....Have we come to this. Just go up and say my name is whatever if you want. What do you think is going to do, maybe ask why you are wearing it but my guess not. You'll just look like a big fat retard. Just my opinion. I mean....

Name tags... I can just see some dork walking into Starbucks with a name tag. For sure you will get more attention but not the kind of attention you are seeking.

Sorry but this was funny! But hey, if you want to try it do and let us know what happens. If you are going to be walking around the halls of your highschool with it on then I say please don't.

Dude-wearing a name tag for no reason is maybe one of the worst thingss I've ever heard. Do you ride the small bus to school everyday....Perhaps the name tag will take some of the attention away from the helmet you have to wear....Save yourself the grief and be a man, introduce yourself to whomever you find interesting.....

No friggin way

I don't like people coming up to me and already knowing my name. I would much rather prefer to have anyone have the guts to come up to me and ASK first rather, than working up just enough nerve to read some piece of paper stapled to my chest. Name tags are a bad idea that gives up your identity and encourages cowards approach you because you seem as desperate as they do.

Okay, If I looked like "Scott" I would wear a nametag...but for the people on this site who have looks and game...it's not neccessary. I'm with tamales on this one!

Screw the classic name tags, I think we can do better! Think bumper stickers, only less tasteful. The following tags could all start with "Scott" at the top:

AFC name tags I want to see:

1.) "Kiss me, I'm jealous and possesive"
2.) "Hi I'll be your stalker for this evening"
3.) "Give me your phone number or else I'll pout"
4.) "My penis size makes me feel like less of a man"
5.) "Please love me or I will kill myself"

Belligerent DJ name tags I want to see:

1.) "Hi wanna screw?"
2.) "Show me your breasts - no fake ones please"
3.) "I can do things to you sexually that you've never read about in Cosmo"
4.) "Gimme your number we'll hook up later after I'm done with your cute friends"
5.) "I always put out on the first date, always"

Where i work (A Corporate Giant Cinema) i charmed them to make me up a name tag that says "ACE". Girls (especially Americans) come up to me and always comment on my unsual 'name'.

Its a great convo opener and i have got a bunch of numbers from it. My mate has a name tag too. His says "Daisy"- works like a charm for him as well.

Wow!

I'm a magician. I was thinking of doing something like that for a new nickname/stage name (because of the card work I do.). Everyone I talked to though said it was a stupid and corny though. To be honest, I agreed a little bit. It felt too cheesy.

Like "some fat hairy old guy with a bad leisure suit" corny.

It actually works though. Hmmmm. Maybe I will use it.

One thing I used to do is wear a little Pin with the letters IYQ on it. When people would say IYQ? I'd say "Thanks, I like you too." But the problem was that it was only guys who noticed the pin. And saying "I like you" to a guy sounds gay.

So, I stopped. None of the girls had ever noticed the pin for some reason.

I saw a nametag with the nickname "Sickboy" on it. heh heh.

The only name you want to put on a name tag (if you are gullible to use this gimmick) is

ORGASMATRON

Trickster Guy:

I can't promise it will work. Everyone at my job HAS to wear a tag, so it doesnt come across as cheesy- rather it sets you apart ('unique') from your co-workers, and indeed other store/shop workers that girls you greet may have met earlier in the day.

If youre working in a different environment, or alone, it may not have the same effect. Though i guess out on "the street" it would be GREAT! Why not try? :D

I am going to get an 'IYQ' badge (-smashing idea! ;) ) made up ASAP- i'll post you a field report!

PS: Wow if you do *magic* i imagine that is a big hit with the ladies!! -Any suggestons?

I'm bumping old threads that I find interesting.

Did you make up the nametag Muke?

I'll be going to a social event in a few weeks, where an online community (similar to this) is meeting. I'm considering wearing a nametag, but I'm not sure whether to use screen or real name (they know both).

Also I've been thinking about getting a genuine "MacDonalds" name tag and putting it on that, just for the sheer tackiness. Problem is, I usually dress real well (DJ style), shirt & sportscoat, so maybe not on the MacDs

Opinions?

I got the boss (nb: nice one, not "the *****") to send an order off to HQ so it looks professional. I'm thinking McDonalds one might look a bit.......naff -as youre wearing it out of its context (the workplace). However it might be a good way of rooting out the chicks with a GSOH- so maybe...
