Was this a passive agressive blow-off or did she really not hear me?

I work at the student center at my school. This chick, Brazilian, my favorite, works there too, but in a different area. So I finish up work today and go up to her, strike up a descent convo for a minute or two, and move on to her plan for October break. Once she's done telling me, I say, "hey, we should hang out some time after break, next week or something."
So what does she say?: "Oh, so what classes are you taking this semester?"
It totally seemed like she was trying to change the subject to avoid awkwardness. Now, granted, she was busy stapling up posters on a bulletin board at the time, but as soon as she was done asking me that and I said classes were, "ok," she said she ran out of staples and bounced.
My roomate's gf told me she most likely didn't hear what i said, but I dunno. In retrospect I should have said, "so is that a yes or a no," but that is only in restrospect. Do I go back tommorow and ask again and hope she didn't hear me the first time? It's sort of a risk cause I also work with her twin sister, so I don't wanna make the workplace awkward. Any advice would be a help.

same thing happened to me except.....

Well the same thing happened to me, i used to go to church (but stopped going b/c it was deep in san francisco, and i live deep in its suburb, Daly City), and i see these girls from the church once in a while...although i do say "hi" sometimes, well twice actually one i saw passing by me at the busstop, and one recently i see on the bus all the time...i said hi to them both, the one at the busstop didn't respond, the one on the bus (they are two diffent people but they probably do know each other), didn't either, but this was when the door was opening to let her out...i was thinking about wheater or not to try again, but reading this form i guess i should try...so i am i see the chicks i used to go to church with all the time, and sometimes i don't bother saying anything unless they make eye contact and/or smile...but we'll see....i think u should try again, and like a post that was on earlier about nexting too early, don't do it until u hear the final "no"

good luck
