I've been hollaring about War Pass to anyone who would listen to me for the last month and a half. He is the best 2YO in the country. Hands down. I knew it when I saw him break his maiden and who he did it againstMy updated top 5 2YO's in the country.. this is my list it's not scientific and it's not law. this is all based on dirt horses that it hink will stretcho ut and be a factor in the BC Juve
NOw: okay top 6..
6: Tale of Ekati: Didn't beat a hell of a bunch in his last race, although did it rather impressivly. Tagg's best 2YO, will stretch out. love sunday Silence/Halo/Hail to Reason on the dam side, this horse should be able to run on gramhm crackers if they choose to and stretching out with Sunday Silence is not a problem.. his avg offspring wins at 8.7 Furlongs. However.. he got beat.. handily.. but Ready's Image earlier this year. I can't dismiss that. and he didn't win with the ease I would like him to beat a group like The Leopard and paint
5: Sargent Seattle... okay.. I know he only broke his maiden... but my gosh I haven't been as impressed all year. Still. He is 4th becuase the odds are against him stretching past 7F. His mommy is a sprinter.. a darn good sprinter ut a sprinter nevertheless. Vindication is proving not to be a source of stanima.. and the early resuots of crossing him with sprinters and thinking that the Vindicaiton/Seattle Slew line would carry distance has produced speeddeamons
4: Riley Tucker: 1) harlin's holiday (riley tucker's sire) is this year's Street Cry. SMOKIN hot first year sire. he will stretch out. 3) he is trained by Mott.. and he's not even mott's best 2YO. One could make the case he's not even in the top 3 if you include turf. But he's a game Colt. Reminds me alot of street sense. a hell of alot. neither has peaked early in their 2YO years. Should race on antyhing and will be a monster on dirt, he's een racing on poly
3: Wicked Style: The most game proformance I have seen from a 2YO all year turning back Riley Tucker at Arlington park. Also his sire, mucho uno is a BC Juve winner. stretching out will be NOOOO probblem for him in the least bit. Runnign Style very similar to Any Given Saturday
2: Majestic Warrior: The commerical bred son of AP Indy... who woulda thought.. aP indy and hot 2Yo's.. this time last year Rags to riches was getting trounced in a MSW. Any other year he's be at the top of my list. AP Indy and distance are like me and rum. they go well together. His dam is a Grade 1 winner routing. he has a classic running style if there ever was one. And for what I can tell looking at him.. he doesn't have the normal AP Indy feet.. he has some fluid in one of his knees.. but he's 2 and that happens when you have a precious 2YO
1: War Pass. This just might be, and this is my opinion.. the best 2YO Zito has ever got his hands on. my freakin gosh. he's by the most unknown hottest sire on earth in Cherokee run (zanjero, Cholokee, younaguaka). Stretcin gout will not be a probelm. He took an allowence OC 80k at Saratoga and ran as green as grass and still pulled away to win by daylight. One of the horses he beat, Fidelio, I honeslty think will be a derby horse next year.. he's got the EXACT same connections as Ghostzapper, execpt for the dam. Trainer, sire, joc, and he's good. And frankel doesn't push 2YO's. the fact that he is even this good this early is probalby giving frankel goosebumps. back to war pass. words can't describe how impressive this 2YO is to me. It's very close between him and majestic warrior, but just seeing how green this horse is and how easily he's doing it...
