Hi all, first post so wassup...

Im starting college in a few weeks (college in the uk is i think the last 2 years of high school over in the US)

i stumbled across this site the other day.... what a goldmine.... anyway my problem is not with being the DJ....

Basically a year ago i had a pretty ****ed up accident, had 2 compound fractures on my leg, which kept me in bed/around the house for a few months, now im pretty much recovered, still gotta get back the stamina in the leg but its getting there... so while i was laid out i was still eating the same so i put on some weight... i got a belly now....

so heres the deal, i wanna bulk up my chest a bit (i was thinking bench-presses) and loose the gut, but i dont know anything really about the whole bodybuilding thing....

would you guys recommend getting a bench and some weights at home or joining a gym (i live in a big city, thats not an issue if i have to)... also should i speak to one of those personal trainers in the gyms to get some pointers on how to lift properly ect...

im living at home at the moment and im just not eating right.... i do eat alot of fruit but also the usual junk food, soon im moving out so hopefully i will be able to sort the diet out (i understand u gotta eat right or ur wasting your time).... so thats pretty much where im at now... any advice or tips you guys could give is appreciated....

Don (my name is actually Don :p)

If you're in a big city then get a gym membership it is worth it considering a barbell+weights+bench is around 350 £, or at least in my country.

And you'll have to decide wheter to loose the gut or to bulk up, you can't do both at the same time. Either follow the bulking or the cutting guide.

Let the trainers help you with the form, but don't give a **** about their advice about rep range, what exercises to do, etc... That's what you'll have diesel for. Try getting symetry, having large chest and puny legs look, well strange.

Make sure you have a spotter when you bench, in my case having none make me lift lighter weight so I don't get stuck with the weight when starting positive rep. It could also be good to vary barbell benches with inclined and db benches so you hit in different angles and develop some stabilizing muscles.

Good luck Don and if you have any questions just ask.
