In the old days the "How soon should I call?" topic was common, but with texting it's nearly always just instant. We often text them just to confirm numbers. I almost never wait more than 24 hours.
Well, 10 days ago I got a phone number of a girl who had the same name as my (then) girlfriend, so I avoided texting her. But today I wrote to her and said "Hi Carolina 2, we met 10 days ago and I said I wanted to photograph you". (She knew another model had her name).
She wrote back immediately and we already have a date scheduled.
It might be a coincidence, but (provided you know you were memorable) it also might be good to wait to text them. (It's also good to wait to ask for their number).
Have you ever waited to text and how did it work out?
