Does anyone have an opinion on Vitamin Water? Is it good for your body? I have recently started drinking it occasionally.

It's better for you than Gatorade, sugar wise, but it's still sugar water. Good for a quick boost, but I would suggest if you're trying to burn fat to drink regular water. If your only goal is muscle then it's alright.

a bottle of vitiman water has 39grams of sugar. you might as well be drinking coke.

look online, you can find water that tastes half ass decent without sugar loaded into it.

I think that's why america is so fat, beucase half the stuff you honestly think is good for you, isn't, and then you just say screw it, and eat like a fat mad man.

It's useless and bad for you. As far as pH levels go, Vitamin Water (like most bottled waters) is acidic and not ideal for drinking (you want water with a pH of 7.5 to 8.5). For those of you interested in oxidation, just about all bottled waters have high levels of oxidation. I've personally tested several using an ORP (oxidation reduction potential) meter.

Waters treated with reverse osmosis (such as Aquafina or Dasani) are the worst, with ORP values as high as +800mV. You will very rarely find bottled liquids with negative ORP values (meaning it's an antioxidant), as oxidation increases the longer the product sits on the shelf or is exposed to light.

The best bottled water to drink is usually spring water like Arrowhead. They usually have neutral pH levels and a lower level of oxidation.

There are, however, ionization machines that will clean your tap water and ionize it. I've seen ORP levels as low as -1600mV in the water from these things. Not only that but hydrogen as an antioxidant is probably the best thing you can put in your body. The only problem is that these machines cost a fucking shitload of money. I simply can't justify spending 4,000 bucks on water.

It's worse than Gatorade. Won't do a damn thing for your muscles.

I'd stay away from it. It's no better than drinking soda or any other sugared drink. The vitamins can be obtained from a multivitamin that is *surprise* 0 calories.

Gatorade (I'm refering to the powdered version made with sugar, not HFCS) is one of the original carbohydrate electrolyte drinks, although other products have surpassed it like Powerbar Endurance. It DOES extend endurance by supplying the working muscle with Carbohydrate and ~500mg/liter sodium.

Vitamen water contains no sodium to prevent hypernatrema that occurs with prolonged (2+) hours of endurance exercise. So I see very limited value of vitamen water for exercise.
