I know it is very popular for us westerns to buy vitamin pills and eat them like they actually made a difference.
I had a talk with my uni biochemistry teacher about this and he said that in the western world you extremly seldom see vitamin deficiency.
Now if you don't have a deficiency the following will happen:
Vitamins like many substances have various ways of entering cells, when the concentration is high the doorways will diminish, which is what will happen when you pop vitamin pills. If you then cease to take them the concentration will go down and the entryways will remain few for some time. The body compensates and during that time your body will run low on vitamines.
So my advice is eat food and through away they pills.
As for iron, if you are not a pregnant woman or have some kind of diesease don't take them either.
