Here are the key points with some of my opinions sprinkled into it.
The best lifetime mating options for most women will happen for them prior to age 30 and often prior to age 25. It is a woman's best interest to select the highest value man she can while she is under 25-30 and stay with him. If she re-enters the market after age 30, either as a childless woman or as a single mom, she won't have as good of options. For women who want children (most women), they are best served by selecting an option earlier in life, getting married, and not getting divorced.
The game changes for women once they turn 30. If a woman turns 30 and finds herself unattached and childless, these are her 5 options and the approximate likelihood of her choosing that option.
A. Maintain high price tag, beat out the competition for a high value man. -- 1% of women
B. Lower price tag to beat out the competition for a high value man. -- 6% of women
C. High price tag, lose to competition, settle for a lower value man. -- 53% of women
D. Lower price tag, fail to beat out competition, and settle for a lower value man -- 15% of women
E. Neither secure, nor settle, and remain unpartnered -- 25% of women (but likely to grow in the future).
"Never Settle!" is the option that feminism has been promoting since the 1970s, and that leads to Option E for most women.
80% of women who never have children unintentionally arrived at that outcome. Most women who didn't have children actually wanted to have children. When this situation happens, it happens most often with high earning women with advanced degrees. Who are high earning women with advanced degrees in the USA? Primarily White women. These high earning women with advanced degrees tend to price themselves out of the market more often than their less educated, lower earning, and younger competition.
Most women end up with the relationship that they want, but not with the man they would prefer. This creates a lot of problems in all sorts of relationships including marriages. When you have women who have been told their entire lives to "Never Settle!" and they had to some sort of lower value man, this will create some forms of bad feelings inside most women. Most of the men that women choose in Options C & D are serviceable and decent options. In the past, pre-Boomer women and even Baby Boomer women were satisfied in settling for a lower value man and often did so well before age 30.
