I'd say a short guy would be anywhere from 5 feet tall to 5 foot, 7 inches. A "normal" guy would be from 5'7" to 5'10". A tall guy would be 5'11" to 6'4". A really tall guy would be 6'5" on up. Sorry, but if you want to convert them to cm's, knock yourself out... I'm sure you know how to do it. On a side note, there is no "universal height". Different cultures are going to have their own ideas on what constitutes a 'tall' person. In an Asian city, a 5'7" guy might be considered the Shaquille O'Neil of their town... So, it all depends.

Oh, Anything Else...

as diablo said, there's no universal height, man. here in middle italy, standards for guys in their teens are:

very short: <5'4 (162,5 cm)
short: 5'5 - 5'9 (165 - 175 cm)
normal: 5'10 - 6'0 (177,5 - 182,5 cm)
tall: 6'1 - 6'4 (185 - 192,5 cm)
very tall: >6'5 (195 cm)

i think american standards are almost the same

anyway, last summer i went to a city where i used to live as a child and everyone told me i was a really tall guy (i'm 5'9 [175]) and people thought of me as i think of 6'3 people. then, i went to a city just 150 miles away and i was considered normal...

and all these three stats are from the same country, italy, which is quite small

universal height can go to hell

Average height among males in the United States is 5'10''.

Up until about 6'' you are considered normal height. If are like 6'1'', 6'2'' or above then a lot of girls might consider you tall.

On the other end, I think anything under 5'8'' would be conidered noticeably short. If you are 5'8'' or 5'9'', you wouldn't be considered tall by any means, but it shouldn't effect your attractiveness at all. Of course these are just my theories based on experience and knowledge, not scientific evidence.

I just hope you are not a huge, unathletic dope. That's the most useless kind of 'big' there is - the big dude who can't play sports and is just huge.... like a 250 pound ameoba.

5'9" is 175 cm.

There are approximately 2.5 centimeters in an inch.

One of my biggest pet peeves are Americans who are too monkey-brained to bother to learn the metric system, when pretty much the rest of the civilized world uses it. It's just ignorance.

Also, the average height of an American male is about 177cm, or 5-foot-9 and a half. The average Dutch adult male is about 183cm, or 6 feet even. The average German I believe is 176cm. I wish I could remember the internet sources I got this from - I'll put it up if I run into it again.

I also read that upto world war two, American were on average 2 inches taller than any European nationality. They have now been outpaced by several European nations, mostly those from the NorthWest (Holland, NW Germany, Denmark, etc.).

The average height in Beijing China for an 18 year old male is now 174cm - a hair shorter than Germans and two hairs shorter than Americans. That's the average, so there is significant overlap. I'd say that overall, Asians aren't so short anymore. Probably 'average', as a group.

Let's face it, MacDonald's has super sized them.

People knock the western diet, but it can't be that bad if you bolt up 2" in a generation.

Why the hell do we need to learn the metric system?

To appease a bunch of Europeans?

F*** that.

I use the metric system about as often as a Frenchmen uses soap.
