Really looking forward to UFC this weekend.
As for Shamrock and Ortiz - I think the outcome will be rather obvious. I’ll probably be wincing a bit, right from the moment Big John says let’s get it on…the same way as when Gracie and Hughes fought. (I almost want to compare it to anticipating a car wreck). Shamrock’s probably going to take a hard beating unless he 'catches' Ortiz early somehow...and it will be amazing if thats the case. Shamrock has the heart of a lion, but the lion looked pretty bad after their last fight…

I’m hoping Arlovski will take the belt. I’ve never been a fan of Sylvia. I think he’s big and clumsy, and has been somewhat under par considering his size advantage. He's been training well, but I guess I question his 'natural' fight abilities. Arlovski was knocked out pretty early in their last fight, but hey, they’re heavy weights after all, and that can happen quite easily.

Fedor by armbar.

Watch Pride. That's the major league. UFC is the farm system.

Im goin with Ortiz for sure. I'm a fan of his, and judging by his last fight with Shamrock, it wont even be close.

I also hope Arlovski takes back the belt. I plan on goin out to a sports bar to watch this on Saturday.

Yeah, I'm watching Pride right now - the second round in Saitama Japan.

I am unfamiliar with some of these guys. Was happy to see Vitor Belfort, and I'm glad he's back. He was a favorite, and then just disappeared.

You think UFC is the 'farm system' ?

Did you see how bad that guy from Pride beat up Chris Leben from the Ultimate Fighter reality show the other night?

No, was that on Spike? I think I saw it coming up but I missed it. Earlier, they were showing reruns of Gracie fights, that I've seen some umpteenth times, so lost interest. I missed the last episode of Ultimate Fighter, but am pleased to see (on the website) that the Hawaiian was a finalist. He's pretty good.

It will be good to go out, have a few drinks, and watch 61 on Saturday. It used to be hard to find a sports bar showing this stuff, but its rather popular now days. If you can believe it, I have a hard time getting my friends into this stuff. Their too busy spending the weekend with their girlfriends...sheesh. I'll probably watch it on ppv.

All of you that say Pride is better than UFC or has more talented fighters can be proven wrong by the following examples:

Tito Ortiz (UFC) beat pride Champ Wandrei Sillva
Vitor Belfort (UFC) beat pride Champ Wandrei Silva

Ortiz and Arlovski are my picks.

Also looking forward to seeing Josh Burkman and Joe Stevenson from TUF 2.

Has anyone been following the Pride OWGP tournament? Wanderlei Silva knocked out that ape Fujita last round. I'm quite impressed considering the size and thickness of that cat's head, but I'm rooting for Mirko myself.

I also think Pride is superior to the UFC, but I don't feel compelled to jump in with that opinion any time someone tries to discuss the UFC. I'm a fan of mma; give me a couple of meatheads bashing in each others' skulls and I don't care what organization they're fighting for.

Jayer, those examples are stupid. No one wins 100% of the time. Anyone could easily flip those examples to show the other way. Look at any mixed martial arts magazine and they would rank the top 5 fighters all from Pride. The reality is that Pride gives out about double the salary that UFC does. Do you really think the top fighters in the world want to take a 50% salary cut? And you ever notice that UFC has predominantly American fighters only while Pride has the best from around the world.

That was amazing. Silva knocked him down quite a few times. And wow, Fujita can really take the hits.

Yoshida must have had his knee cap kicked out to be in that kind of pain.

I think these Japanese MM Artists are great but need to tighten up their boxing skills...the Brazillians are very fast and precise.

Ha.

I like the individual fighters more than the organization. UFC has progressively become rather commercialized nowdays, and a little too much like WWF with the dramma...thats definitely a downfall. Blame Dana White? I'm just glad its available on Spike I guess.

those fights were 6 and 8 years ago, wanderlei has evolved so much since then, if he fought any of those fighters these days he would demolish them. Have you even seen pride the greatest fighters on earth go to pride because of the money pride gives out, while the ufc pays fighters very little, pride actually takes care of and pays their fighters. Oh and did anyone happen to see wanderlei beat the crap out of Yoshida at the GP, and my picks are Ortiz and Arlovski via submission.

Tito Beat Wanderlei, Chuck beat Tito, Rampage beat chuck, Wanderlei beat Rampage, Rampage beat Arona, Arona beat Wanderlei, Shogun beat Arona so therefore Pride is the best via logical elemination.

Ken Shamrock is going to beat Tito with a "living death."

Damn I love UFC I really like Shemlock but he's gonna lose and ya GO PITBULL! Pride is awesome when I lived in Japan I watched it everyday. The best fight was the Heavy weight Japanese guy who had bleached hair going at with the Russian guy who won in the end. :box:

I like PRIDE more simply because I enjoy the fact that they have more fighters from different places, while UFC is more the americans league.

Doesnt mean you cant enjoy both though, I always watch all PRIDES and UFC events.
