Hey, just thought I'd introduce myself, I am Mr Plow, and I want to improve my physical shape. I am already a member on SoSuave but I wanted to make a new account to just hang around in this section (mainly). I have signed up to the gym with some friends, and have been going once or twice every week, I've had a short break due to illness but should be back on my feet soon.

I need to slim down, (not too much) but I also want to build up a muscular frame, I am 15 (as of two days ago) and I think I weigh eleven - twelve stone-ish (about 154 pounds)... (not thinkin' that's too good) but however I am 5"9 ish which is okay for my age.

What's a good way to achieve my goals, any home excercises I can do? Any special fitness routines? Time lengths also appreciated to give me some idea. I am hoping to achieve my goal within around four months (sorry if it's unrealistic I don't know much about this sort of thing)

I thank you :)

Okay at 15 years old it is near impossible to make any significant physique changes as you are still developing. Your hormones will basically do what they want right now. I would not recommend anyone your age tried to lose weight unless they were severely overweight, as you are depriving yourself of the nutrients needed to grow.

However you can still go in the gym, have fun, learn the lifts, get on a structured program, build some strength, and learn good nutritional and training habits - just don't expect miracles because by the time you turn 20 your body will have changed, changed and changed some more - of its own accord.

Right now concentrate on making it change in the right direction. Eat well, train hard and have fun. :)

Alex,

I just turned 18, is it now ok for me to attempt to get ripped/cut up a bit. I had some major weight loss when I was 15/16 in a short amount of time, and have kept the level of about 15% bf, since then.

yes by 18 your development is generally complete enough to allow more significant physique changes. your major weight loss was hormone-induced which is why I tell people not to diet at that age

int3l if you're not seeing changes NOW why do you think you will see them later? are you not gaining strength with these workouts? are you getting fatter?

Thanks Alex, I wasn't sure whether I was training hard enough to start with, 'cause I have actually been going a few months with no change at all, my diet is fantastic, except for the odd snack or two (hardly ever)

Keep in mind thoug that most teens eat like birds skipping breakfast and eat fastfood. If he actually starts eating healthy food sources with lots of protein and green carb sources, his body is likely to shread the fat without dieting the bodybuilder way. What we call a bodybuilder diet (wich makes us feel like crap) , "normal people" call that healthy eating ;) They'll gain energy from it cause theyre deprived anyways. White bread and soda, burgers ... the typical western diet is still what's considered normal.

lol, i didn't mean it in that way. I can see changes, they're just slow- which is likely a fault on my behalf for not eating correctly (As in 6 meals a day; i don't eat junk much anymore. occasional cookie here and there >.>;;) and all the rest. (i'd like to blame it on uni and etc but who am i kidding, i've just been lazy)

Actually, that weight loss was me eating about 1000 calories a day, and working out (and it pains me to stay) 2-3 hours a day with slow aerobic work (about 12 - 15km's a day - Im a runner).

On that note, I've realised the error of my ways and am in the process of turning myself into a 400m runner, and a pole vaulter. (I just really lack the fast twitch muscle to be a 100 or 200, sprinter, lol)
