Well lets say i want to go to Spain, Italy, England, and maybe one more place ( I live in South Afrika ) and i would want to spend about 1 week at each of those places, how much would that cost me roughly?
$22,602 ZAR. Good luck; I don't know very many 18 year olds with that much to blow vacationing abroad for nearly a month.
Airfare from Cape Town to London leaving May 1, returning May 25th: 5440 ZAR (~$896 USD).
http://ww1.flysaa.com = 896
Transportation expenses: varies depending on how much you travel, however it costs about $100 to get from London to Amsterdam, so it would cost more to get from there to Spain or Italy. Let's say... $150. Then another $100 to get from Spain to Italy. Then, from Italy back to England for the return flight is another 150. This isn't counting any additional transportation costs, like taxis, bus rides, etc... which will easily add another 200 to it. So, 150 + 100 + 150 + 200 = 600 (at the very minimum).
Lodging expenses: 3 weeks = 21 nights. Assuming you stay in the budget youth hostels for 25 euros a night (which is pretty accurate from my experience), that's 525 euros, which = 692 USD.
Food: If you eat carefully, such as at cheap eateries and by purchasing food from grocery stores, the average will be about 20 euros a day (assuming you don't drink a whole lot of water, which would add to that). 21 x 20 = 420 euros = 544 USD.
So far, you're up to $16,570 ZAR (or about 2732 USD).
Not bad, for 3 weeks away. However, you still haven't factored in
anything other than the bare essentials that you'll be doing. No admission charges anywhere, no allowance for buying trinkets and souveneirs, no money for nightlife, no museum passes, no anything... add on another $1000 at the minimum. That comes down to just $47 a day to spend on "extras". It won't be enough.
Total (bare bones minimum) for your trip?
$22,602 ZAR. ($3732 USD). You'll go over it, believe me. I spent over 2500 in just 1 week in Europe when I went 3 months ago. Once you're there, it's hard to save...
If you want to verify the accuracy of what I've put, why don't you put in the work and find out for yourself what the exact prices of transportation, lodging, meals, etc will be. Make yourself a daily planner with what you'll have to spend, where to spend it, etc. It's called "budgeting". Many people do it... and since I just planned out the financial budget for your entire trip, I won't be helping any more.
