I work at a large corporate company. The job has been great, everything is flowing smoothly, etc. However, I received a note from HR saying we had to meet.
Apparently, a girl who "resigned" from the company six months ago just sued the company citing an "uncomfortable work environment." She felt that guys viewed her as a piece of meat and would always be making moves on her. She then listed "at least 10-12 employees" on her list according to HR. Of course, one of the names is me.
I won't get into the details, but she thought I was "obsessed" with her, stalked her and otherwise made her uncomfortable. These claims are empty and most importantly, false. I barely knew her and never had any feelings towards her; didn't speak to her much. Her view of "stalking" = me going to work and doing my job. We worked in the same department.
A lawyer friend of mine says I don't have much to worry about (besides the fact I was truthful) because there's no physical proof of any possible wrongdoing - it's all "he said/she said" - and she named at least 10-12 employees, not 1-2. My company can't check my story with her either because she is no longer working here.
Your thoughts? My employment isn't at risk, but a warning or a counseling session for false accusations is not right. They told me I shouldn't be worried and that they will look for holes in her story, but this is unfamiliar territory for me.
