I have an ISU [independent study unit] to do. Somehow without knowing it, I picked one of the toughest subjects - game shows. wtf am I supposed to say about that? What could be my thesis?

I also can't find any articles about them either. Please help asap.

Thanks

Talk about history of them, and how they evolved.

One other thing: I saw a program on game show scandals--there was like two big ones. Maybe you could work these in. This is, obviously, only a bit. Good luck.

Step-by-step:
  • Determine what you want to write about (American culture's obsession with reality TV, etc).
  • Look up the word "thesis".
  • Create a thesis for your paper.

I've found that sometimes it helps to actually write the paper, then go back and make a thesis - by the end of it you have a better understanding about what it is you're going to be discussing, which comes across when you introduce your thesis. By the way, saying that you can't find any articles about game shows is the worst excuse I've ever heard. I'll give you a push in the right direction: google.com. If you still can't find any (and I've just found over 4.9 million hits) then why don't you go to the library. For some reason, these people called 'authors' have taken it upon themselves to write these things called 'books' about... you guessed it... game shows! :p

Exactly where I want to be.
Wow, I don't think doing one on game shows would be all that tough.

Here's some general thesis statements you could easily do a report with:

"The emodiment of greed and personal success can easily be attributed to the success and overall flourishment of television gameshows since their initial appearance in 19-whatever."

"The success of television in general can largely be explained by the fixation of interest generated by game shows."

"Skillful marketing realized the potential in game shows by drawing upon seemingly inherant traits of human beings including the desire to be recognized, the desire to gain, and the desire to compete."

Those are just off the top of my head, and I can't say I know exactly what path you're taking this essay to, but hopefully you get an idea from them.
