One thing that's struck me lately is the need for balance in your life and priorities. Going on sites like sosuave and reading PUA material, while beneficial, can give you a skewed view of life and what's important.
A balance is difficult to find, and it's up to each individual to find what theirs is. But I think it's the best way to lead a wholesome life.
Here's some examples of where balance must be struck:
- Not bending over backwards for a girl but at the same time not being a complete d**k
- Being overtly sexual with women but in a way that doesn't make them feel pressured and harassed
- Taking self-improvement seriously but not neglecting your friends and family because of it
- Looking at your weaknesses and trying to improve but at the same time being patient and not beating yourself up when you fall short
- Looking after yourself but at the same time bringing positivity into other peoples lives and not being too insular
- Sometimes doing nice things without expecting anything in return
- Take pride in what you do but not letting your pride consume you
- Not caring what other people say but valuing people's opinions and input
Now I'm not religious but I think now I understand why people turn to God during a crisis or uncertainty. Life can be confusing at times and we are surrounded by conflicting information and advice. Religion gives you structure, clear and concise. Instead of deciding to serve yourself or serve others, you serve God, whatever that involves.
Wherever your balance is, be sure to spread lots of positivity with the people in your life. We are surrounded by negativity and pressure....people always worrying about making the wrong decisions, where they are going, are they good enough, etc. If you can make someone smile and feel good even for a minute then that's something to be proud of.
