The TRUE MAN i've found and since become a disciple of is:

Adi Da Samraj

He is a Spiritual Master and also the definition of True Man. Everyone should find out about him.

www.adidam.org

He "husbanded" the "female" creative/destructive force of the universe "Shakti". You can't get any more manly than that!

Ha! Well if you can't/won't understand Him it is unfortunate. Very unfortunate.

I hope this ******* seriously gets cancer. He said "you have to throw yourself at the feet of a realizer to attain understanding." That's bulls*it. The Buddha said "enlightenment comes from ones own hard work, and not from my side."

kay, im done venting.

And Buddha never had masters or guides in His formative years?

Only those who "throw themselves at the feet of Buddha" Or give their lives to Buddhism realize him.

You are just taking a typical adolescent western attitude. The ego can't transcend itself. It's like saying "i'm not going to think of a white horse". Is that going to work?

There is an ancient saying:

"He who is his own guru, has a fool for a devotee"

You become what or who you put your full attention on.

Haven't they ever heard any marketing tips? That $hit won't sell if the long-haired queer-looking guy's picture stays there. I say he has to go.

Lingham, you are completly mistaking what I said. Of course the Buddha had guides, but the guides never said that they were the way to enlightenment.

In fact, it is considered a major offense for a person who has attained enlightenment to say "I have attained enlightenment." It's a larger offense for a person to say that they are the way or anything of the like.

One takes refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Spiritual community on ones own.

A person is fully responsibile for a persons own enlightenment. However, a person needs a teacher to guide him. This teacher must meet strict requirements, and young Tibetans are preped for months on how to find the proper teacher.

Anyone who says that "they are the way" is not only arrogant, but mistaken.

There are many different ways all leading to the end. Even the Dalai lama says "Don't use Buddhism to become a Buddhist. use Buddhism to become a better- what you allready are."

I am thrilled that you have found a practice which works for you. However, for you to impose it upon other people is just wrong.

Thanks for the intelligent reply Matlm.

I am not forcing anybody to join anything. I am stating that I think Adi Da is a True Man in the greatest sense of the word. You are all welcome to state who you think are the best example of TRUE MAN.

Well they would only be honest if they where enlightened. But they do usually wait for others to notice first. Adi Da is not a gentleman or humble. He is not a saint in the way we like to think of saints. (IE: white robes and a serene smile) Adi Da kicks Spiritual ass.

But to each his own. I know where you are coming from.

I guess anybody who wants to discuss this further should private message me because this post seems to be raising peoples hackles and we wouldn't want that!

Boricua, thanks for being open minded guy!

I am trying to be open minded, but I have to say I am not convinced.

Is he even truly Buddhist ? His website seems to be mostly about self-promotion and he's also trying to sell some wall calendars with his pictures on it. In fact, he's got a whole shopping section on there, hocking his merchandise.

I don't see where he even mentions Buddhism at all, even though most of the ideas on the website have a striking similarity. Is it possible that he is trying to use Buddhism - by repackaging it and passing it off as his own great teachings - and trying to make some money in the process ?

Note -
I am not making any accusations, I am just wondering if it's possible. I'll stick to reading Alan Watts for now.

Golden Arms:

Here is a direct quote from Alan Watts in regards to Avatar Adi Da Samraj:

"It is obvious, from all sorts of subtle details, that he knows what IT's all about . . . . a rare being. -Alan Watts

Adi Da does not design websites, the website and the store are designed by his devotees. Believe me they generally LOSE MONEY given the cost to publish and diseminate His Teachings vs. how many books are actually sold.

The Way of Adidam is NOT Buddhism or formally affiliated with any previous spiritual tradition. Nor does it claim to be. The Way Of Adidam is about the yoga or path of devotion to the fully enlightened Avatar Adi Da Samraj. Devotion to Adi Da or Bakti Yoga is the KEY here. And it is not blind devotion. Some people hear Adi Da's teachings and come to recognize Him. Then if they are moved they take a formal Vow to devote their lives to Realizing Adi Da Samraj or Realizing God through devotion to this 7th stage realizer. You become what or who you meditate or grant your attention to. It is based on that ancient law. You can PM me if you want to ask more because it isn't appropriate for this forum.

This sounds to me like another path to enlightenment. Buddhists usually find enlightenment in themselves, or by following buddhists teachings. This is just another path (the yogic path) using Avatar Adi Da Samraj's teachings, which are basically the same thing as any other yogic path.... I guess he just makes it more fancier, or has better "methods" or interpretations in his teachings.

Correct me if I am wrong, but that is the way I see it. I am open-minded though so I will read his teachings. There are many paths to enlightenment, but its all the same journey.

I'll try and make the distinction as clear as possible. Avatar Adi Da Samraj offers a RELATIONSHIP. Not a mere philosophy or body of techniques. It is the intense devotional relationship to the Master that allows His unique Transmission to flow into the devotee. He is a Siddha or Transmission Master.

If this relationship does not exist and you where just to read Adi Da's teachings (wich are in themselves very detailed and great) you will not Realize Truth. There are definitly benefits to reading such amazing teachings but only one who has entered this relationship and REALLY allow it to pervade every aspect of their life is transformed.

See it is based on the understanding that it is the EGO who loves to meditate, fast, renounce etc . . . but the ego is that must be transcended. You can renounce everything and still be an ego. Therefore it can be transcended when it is forgotten in the Divine as Revealed by the Master. The ego can refine itself but can't transcend itself through ego-effort. That very effort only re-inforces the ego-"I".

Channel your excited feelings into positive thoughts and behaviors. You will attract women by being enthusiastic, radiating energy, and becoming someone who is fun to be around.
