The problem is that they work, and do so very effectively.

And then, years later, your body just falls apart. When I see news about guys collapsing and dying after mma fights, steroids is the first thing that comes to mind. It happened in South Carolina last month. When an athlete suddenly dies, typically they either had a previously undiscovered heart defect, or the death was the result of years of steroid abuse. Maybe they would have been fine had they not been so stupid about the amounts and types they took, but they are still dead nonetheless.

Pretty much every UFC fighter is doping with testosterone or HGH. It will be a big scandal someday.

Your body isn't naturally meant to operate at the levels it does while doping. I'm just assuming this puts the rest of your body (heart, brain, etc) into overdrive the entire time you're doping to keep your body running and years later this strain catches up to people and that's why they drop dead.

Thank you!

I've had friends tell me recently that they're using steroids...and instantly lose so much respect for them.

I feel like it's the chumps way to getting cut...not to mention the stupid way.

What I don't like about steroids is that they make my hands itch. Oh wait. You're not talking about adrenocortical steroids for treatment of respiratory disorders, are you? You're talking about sucking hard and long on bulls' d1cks and swallowing greedily, over and over, aren't you?

Nevermind.

Even those guys that drop dead from supposed "congenital heart defects" in my opinion died from steroids. I believe the defect wasn't congenital at all, I believe the steroids CAUSED the defect, its just that medical science is stupid and thinks that all heart defects are congenital.

with 2+ yrs of working out smart and eating healthy you can get in amazing shape. life is too precious and short to consider using steroids to cheat yourself into shape.

the mentality of the guy in the documentary and his brothers is really stupid, that guy wants to look like arnold but only does strength training. after all the years he still never learned the difference between bodybuilding and weightlifting. he thinks he can look like arnold buy only doing 1 rep maximums on bench and squat LOL, ****ing jackasses.

and let me tell you this about roids, i see a lot of guys at golds gym who are users, and most of them look terrible. they have large muscles but its all out of proportion, and many of these guys i notice dont even train their legs, they got the huge upperbody and the stork-like legs. they look nothing like the greek statues that represented the perfect human bodies.

if you are older though, like 45 years and older it may be a good option to take some under doctors supervision as anti aging therapy. young man can get in great shape naturally.

Steroids significantly increase LDL or "bad" cholesterol in the body, a sign that the body is being damaged and the cholesterol is being used to patch up the body. They can also cause jaundice by greatly impairing liver and kidney function, cause cancer and tumors, heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure.

They also shut off your body's production of its own hormones because it figures it is getting plenty of them from an outside source, so it doesn't need to make its own.

Back when I belonged to a hardcore hole-in-the-wall powerlifting gym, there were 3 members who used steroids and 2 who were on HRT. Two of the guys who were actually juicing had personal problems that could of definately been linked to their increased test levels such as using his truck to run another vehicle off the road when his child was in the passenger seat next to him. The other dude was a prison guard who went off on an inmate and snapped his ribs, thus getting fired. He also tore his bicep doing deads in a PL competition. When he underwent anaesthesia, he suffered a mild heart attack due to the roids. As far as the HRT guys, they need it for the rest of their lives since they can't produce testerone independently.

Doping now a ‘public health issue’ says WHO doctor

09/23/12

"If we believe that around three percent of high school boys in the U.S. are taking a steroid or growth hormone, then that's a public health issue," said Dr. Timothy Armstrong of the World Health Organization.

LOL, as if there are not any more pressing concerns on the table at the moment..like sedentary, obese individuals who do jack sh!t to improve themselves physically (versus those taking anabolics and working out consistently)

Bible_Belt, I had no idea the guy was on gear who fought down in Myrtle Beach. My friend is a combat veteran who opened his own fight gym in Rock Hill, SC and told me at the time he did not know the cause but said they believed he started suffering from a heart attack DURING the actual cage fight. He left behind I 5 children and a wife. RIP

Steroids work--no question. They have side effects which are usually unpleasant but not life threatening. The long term side effects of moderate use just haven't been carefully studied. My guess is that a moderately dosed cycle done once a year or two will not cause any long-term health problems.
