The Problem With Some Self Help Gurus

Is that they have no real hobbies or interests, they tell you to give up on things like video games and just work or read all the time. We are not robots built to work 24/7. There is nothing wrong with relaxing with some video games for an hour.

People need hobbies and interests, another thing i notice is that some say to stop focusing on women and focus on your purpose. What will happen is you will get rich and successful but have almost no skills with women.

The only women that care about money are gold diggers and 35+ year olds hitting the wall.

What we need is a balance, going from one extreme to the next is not healthy.

Hobbies are overrated in my opinion. I can only go hiking so many times in a row before I become bored with it. I don’t like doing the same crap ALL the time which is why when women ask me what my hobbies are, I draw a blank. Sometimes I want to sit on my ass. Sometimes I want to play Xbox. Sometimes I want to watch a marathon of a show that’s on I like. Sometimes I like doing yard work. I don’t have hobbies where I’m doing something every single week without fail, like company softball or playing tag football with some dudes in the park like a weirdo. I’m just me, I do what I want when I want, I don’t have a set schedule.

People without hobbies are huge losers. Can't stand being around that kind of person at all. Neither of my parents have hobbies, they exist solely to travel, watch TV and get drunk.

Hobbies make a person interesting and they allow you to connect with other people easily. Any self help guru who poo poos free time is just a bvllsh1t artist. I once met this dude on a train who was all about this girl he was dating. He kept wanting to hang around me, and I don't know why, because he hated video games and thought I was wasting my time playing them. He was the most boring dude around, he would just show up at my apartment all the time with absolutely nothing to do or say. He thought video games were a waste of time because his GF told him they were and that he wasn't ALLOWED to play them.

The crazy South African guys I knew in Brazil, who were into the underworld, banging hot chicks left and right, doing coke and running to ESL classes on the backs on Ninjas also had loads of Magic Cards and spent time gaming in Unreal Tournament, infact that's how I got the job with them. People who tell you games are a waste of time, are themselves a waste of life.

Everybody I know who plays League, save for 1 guy is married to a hot chick. My boss used to pay me to play League with him in China. One day I went in, he cancelled all my classes and said he would pay if I just sat and played with him morning till night. Did that for 3 and a half months straight every night. My wife just added that her brother met his wife on a Chinese version of Dance Dance Revolution [Audition Dance Battle Online] and they continued dating in some RPG, she was smoking hot. My wife and I spent 2 months during the pandemic playing through Stardew Valley until we figured out there was no end. We also played through Don't Starve, Final Fight, Puzzle Fighter, Bust A Move [Puzzle Bobble] and Overcooked. If you like games, choose girls who also like games. Nerd girls are only fat and ugly in the West.

My wife was a huge fan of anime and liked getting dressed up in this stuff. I swear she's watched every anime ever made. If you like the chicks at cons, go hang out there. They don't have anyone to pick them up. The ones in Asia are like shooting fish in a barrel.

They'll teach you how to be a self help guru, because that's all they know how to do. It's their only hobby, interest, work, lifestyle and everything.

It's like they're autistic and can only care about doing this one single thing. Whatever floats their boat...

They sell on their ideas a fantasy about some idealization... And humans love fantasy.

A guy who only study, work is like a perfect human... Is like God. Being like that give us some sense of power. That is basically what those guys do.

Agree with you that we are not robots, playing video games or dating girls will not kill us or make us inferior than anyone.

But hey, they are gurus, they have to sell that image of a wise and perfect guy.

This seems a great path to became mentally obsessive and sick.

Honestly it just sounds to me like you haven't found something you actually enjoy, the way you talk about it is as if its a job.

I'm not surprised, it really is hard to find someone you know irl that plays the same games. In highschool there was an Asian guy who would pay people to play World of Warcraft with him and join his guild. Most of my friends just play Cod or Fifa which is not what I'm into.

Haha, what a hypocrite. There's nothing wrong with those things other than how someone might handle it. It can be positive just as much as it can be negative, it should just be used with caution and discipline, like everything else in life.

Yeah, I don't have any hobbies really, I'm just always busy doing something I feel doing. I think a hobby is something that people do so they can feel they are doing something, I don't have time for that I'm too busy living my life.

Hobbies are ways of indulging in culture and once you indulge you can begin to network with your fellow hobbyists in creating your own cultural contributions.
