And it makes sense...I've seen HOT women with beta looking guys (especially Asian culture). The article discusses studies that indicate yes, women like men who compete and dominate over other men, but they don't like aggressive and domineering behavior in a relationship. On the same note, they don't like submissive men either. The numbers are interesting....

The researchers then asked women to indicate which of the adjectives used to describe John were ideal for a date as well as for a long-term romantic partner. They found that only one woman out of the 50 undergraduates in their sample actually identified “dominant” as one of the traits she sought in either an ideal date or a romantic partner. For the rest of the dominant adjectives, the two big winners were confident (72 percent sought this trait for an ideal date; 74 percent sought this trait for an ideal romantic partner) and assertive (48 percent sought this trait for an ideal date; 36 percent sought this trait for an ideal romantic partner). Not one woman wanted a demanding male, and only 12 percent wanted an aggressive person for a date and romantic partner.

In terms of the nondominant adjectives, the big winners were easygoing (68 percent sought this trait for an ideal date; 64 percent sought this trait for an ideal romantic partner) and sensitive (76 percent sought this trait for an ideal date and ideal romantic partner). Not one woman wanted a submissive male for either a date or romance. Other low-ranked nondominant adjectives were shy (2 percent for dating; zero for romantic) and quiet (4 percent for ideal; 2 for romantic).

This analysis was revealing because it suggests that dominance can take many forms. The dominant male who is demanding, violent, and self-centered is not considered attractive to most women, whereas the dominant male who is assertive and confident is considered attractive. As the researchers suggest, “Men who dominate others because of leadership qualities and other superior abilities and who therefore are able and willing to provide for their families quite possibly will be preferred to potential partners who lack these attributes.”

It is neither the alpha nor the beta male that is most desired by women.

Taken together, the research suggests that the ideal man (for a date or romantic partner) is one who is assertive, confident, easygoing, and sensitive, without being aggressive, demanding, dominant, quiet, shy, or submissive. In other words, a prestigious man, not a dominant man.

Correct. Alpha has become a blurry and subjective concept among the manosphere community so I intentionally avoid using that term but rather describe the ideal mindset behind it.

The problem often lies with men confusing Alpha with narcissism/self-centeredness. This moves away from forming any substantial and healthy connection. Being assertive and walking your path has nothing to do with how you treat people. Just as confidence is a highly attractive quality so is kindness.

They want the man who can hold his own in a fight but doesn't have to because he is respected enough by other men that they wouldn't even try it.

No, Alpha is very real and very rare.

Women cannot resist Alpha and they cannot resist The Game.

Alpha, Love, The Game its all the same thing.

What is Alpha? It is the quality that holds a community together. Knowledge, Leadership, The Pathway, Confidence, Emotional Energy. A women wants to fall in Love with a Man she respects and looks upto. This Love is similar to the Love that generally brings people close to you and makes you socially successful, it includes things like Morality and Conscientiousness.

Alpha is not about being the biggest or baddest, its about choice. Prestige Power vs Dominance Power, look it up. Alpha is really about Prestige Power, and should not be confused with Dominance Power.

When I say The Game, I am talking more like a pimp than a pua.

Its not about being a CEO or having Money or success in institutions though, because those institutions are not 'pure' ie we are talking Capitalism, Corruption, Nepotism, Dominance, Subservience etc. Alpha is a leader of a Community of humans, not institutions, that is his job, then others with skills join him, but he doesnt bring any money to the table, because his job is to be the leader, others have to pay. The Alpha in a group doesnt go out and bring back food, nor answer to anyone, the low-status ones have to, just like a CEO, who has to answer to a board.

You just said everything the article said, go read it before commenting....It talks about prestige, not dominance and aggression, studies show almost no women (less than 1%) want a dominant or aggressive man, same as a submissive man. What they want is prestige, confidence, strength, assertiveness, etc. GO READ ARTICLES BEFORE COMMENTING>>>>

Kindness can be an act of actions, it doesn't have to be verbalized. Also no human being go with 1 character trait, it is always in combination with some others. A confident, disciplinated assertive men, who is kind will do better than someone who lacks it
Brother if women were aroused by the great guy described in OP's post, we wouldnt have mass dysfunction across western society. Which is currently Devolving at warp factor 10......

The most attractive male is really a blend of characteristics, including assertiveness, kindness, cultivated skills, and a genuine sense of value in this world.
A man has to do all this to be attractive?

What does the woman have to do?

Disregard. As soon as the research involves “asking” women anything it loses any bit of credibility. Even raw dating apps user statistics have more value than this research.

Lost me at “asked women to indicate...”

This is an extension of the Nice Guy meme.

I might be alone, but i cringe at the Alpha Beta stuff. If anyone calls themselves an Alpha then it would automatically make me think they are far from it.

Women don't know what they want half the time. I think confidence is probably the most important factor out of those listed.

And being kind is not a bad thing. I highly doubt any woman wants someone who is unkind to people. Being kind is part of being respectful to others. Being overly nice and not having an opinion is where it tips the balance to unattractive.

"Just be sensitive but dominant, and kind but forceful, etc, etc...."

Way too ****ing ideal. This article means nothing. Women always want what they don't have. Follow women actions. Women want men. If they cant get good men, they settle. This is the true way.

Dominance Power is a oxymoron. An alpha needs both prestige and dominance.

hahahaha I was going to write something to this fact. Love someone beat me to it. Women can't give a straight answer in regard to what they want for dinner let alone men! What makes anyone think they are going to get a straight answer with women!

I would add though being as some guys are having a silly debate over "Alpha." Alpha is a contrived name for attributes first overserved in the wild by mammals. The key here is attributes. All women love these attributes. These attributes are undebatable. It's only in the men's community that leadership "Alpha" attributes get conflated with poor behavior.

Guys need to learn they need to become leaders. Leaders are different than bosses. Just like Alpha is different than "Douchebags." Guys need to start thinking for themselves.
