I don't know whether such a list has been assembled before, but I think it'd be good to have a list of good books which have some relevance to pickup, redpill, etc. The sort of thing I had in mind was books that go into the psychology of DJ tactics. This isn't for articles like those in the DJ Bible, nor for books like Bang, Mystery Method, The Game, etc. -- it's best for the list to contain books with some academic legitimacy (ofc, I'm not expecting peer-reviewed papers, but if you know of some, they could certainly be added). Post your suggestions as well as what category they fit into (if a suitable category doesn't exist yet, make one up) and I'll consider adding them. Books in bold will be "must reads".

The list:
  • Biology and Evolutionary Psychology
    • Dawkins, Richard; The Selfish Gene
    • Morris, Desmond; The Naked Ape
    • Wright, Robert; The Moral Animal: Why We Are the Way We Are
  • Philosophy
    • Aurelius, Marcus; Meditations
    • Epictetus; The Enchiridion
    • Seneca, Lucius Annaeus; Letters from a Stoic
    • Seneca, Lucius Annaeus; On Anger
    • Seneca, Lucius Annaeus; On the Shortness of Life
    • Seneca, Lucius Annaeus; On the Happy Life
    • Tzu, Sun; The Art of War
  • Self-help
    • Browne, Harry; How to Sell Anything
    • Carnegie, Dale; How to Win Friends and Influence People
    • Covey, Stephen; Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
    • Tolle, Eckhart; The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
  • Social Psychology
    • Ariely, Dan; Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions
    • Cialdini, Robert B., Goldstein, Noah J. & Martin, Steve J.; Yes! 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to be Persuasive
    • Cialdini, Robert B.; Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion
    • Greene, Robert; The 48 Laws of Power
    • Greene, Robert; The Art of Seduction
    • Hadnagy, Christopher; Social Engineering: The Art of Human Hacking
    • Kolenda, Nick; Methods of Persuasion: How to Use Psychology to Influence Human Behaviour
    • Pennebaker, James W.; The Secret Life of Pronouns
  • Miscellaneous
    • Babiak, Paul & Hare, Robert D.; Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go to Work
    • Hare, Robert D.; Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us
    • Machiavelli, Niccolo; The Prince
    • Strout, Martha; The Sociopath Next Door

Update history:
[2014-06-05] Added three books about psychopathy, which, among other things, describe the way psychopaths manipulate people. I think those methods can be useful for DJs.
[2014-06-06] Added a few of the most prominent works of Stoic philosophy which is strongly related to the Game concept of state control.

48 Laws is on there but I'll definitely add the other two. Can't believe I forgot The Prince. Although some people think it's a satire.

blablalba theres enough info on this forum bro, just dont get too attached to girls and act out. Make a move, tease push/pull and escalate to sex. If she gives you a hard time, next her as and talk to another one.

Theres my book for you brother all you need to know

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Ok, but for those of us who aren't philistines (oj), it might be useful to understand the theory behind Game. The Moral Animal, for example, explains why we behave the way we do regarding sex.

Besides, if what you just said were enough, no-one would ever post questions on these forums.

I agree 100%. And someone's gotta know the correct answer. :D I usually like to know the why myself, what's behind it. Not just know the correct response to it. But why is she acting like that.

I'll add:

The Art of War -Sun Tzu
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People -Stephen Covey
^ Both of these are classics and can be used for much more than just game.

+1 for The Art of War.

I'll add The Republic by Plato, A Book of Five Rings: The Classic Guide To Strategy by Miyamoto Musashi, and The 33 Strategies Of War by Robert Greene. Also, Genghis Khan And The Making Of The Modern World by Jack Weatherford.

How does The Republic relate to game? I've read about half of it, I don't see the relevance. The same too for all these war strategy books. I added The Prince because while it's about politics and a little about war, the way he describes manipulating other politicians and such is applicable to general social interaction.

If you guys can explain why these books relate to Game or the Red Pill, I'll definitely add them but right now I don't see it. This isn't a "well-rounded man's reading list" because there are already several of those; here's a good one: http://www.artofmanliness.com/2008/05/14/100-must-read-books-the-essential-mans-library/

Do you think that everything has to relate word for word to Game? I know that analyzing is hard for some, but do try it some time.

The war books cover strategy. They cover the way to think, to outsmart others, to know what, and when, course of action to take. I'm sure you can figure out a way to apply that to Game.

Finish reading The Republic and you will understand. That is.... if you can see past your nose in terms of interpreting things.

You might notice that I specifically said I wouldn't add books that were just about game (e.g. The Game, Mystery Method, Bang, etc.). By the same token, I won't add books that don't relate to it in a clear way. Again, this isn't "books every man should read". This is a list of books that men who aspire to have more success with women should read (which should be every [straight] man but that's a different argument entirely) and therefore every book on the list should clearly relate to furthering that goal. And, again, if you can explain why the book should be on the list (without taking a needlessly hostile tone), I will add it.

So explain or GTFO, and in future, leave that chip on your shoulder at the door, s'il te plait.

[edit] I've personally used game theory (not Game theory) to understand why social interactions play out the way they do, but I "picked it up" by generally reading around. It'd be good to have a book or two that explain it thoroughly, if possible with examples of applying it to everyday decision-making. Does anyone know of such a book?

They do relate to it in a clear way.... You might be the type of person that needs things to be spelled out. I'll try to post books for all reading levels. Some books are more advanced than others.

I already explained how they relate. The sayings, and teachings, hold deep meaning and understanding for the reader to interpret to succeed in his field of desire. They can be apply to women, business, manipulating others, etc. The Art Of War is similar to The Prince. They are different, but the deeper meanings stay the same.

To throw a completely unknown book into the mix:

http://trendsaction.com/ebook/the-secret-of-selling-anything.php

Most "game" techniques come from sales and psychology. And this book is basically both (it's also very easy to consume in a few hours) PS: You can find it free pretty easy if you know what you're doing. aka: Just google the authors name and the name of the book. It'll be on the first page of results.

Here's where i first learned about it and if you don't want to to read an ebook (since it isn't in book form), a lot of it is revealed here (browse down until you see the sub heading: "Harry Browne's Masterpiece on Salesmanship") : http://www.marketingbullets.com/bullet29.htm

I've read Greene, Robert; The 48 Laws of Power & Greene, Robert; The Art of Seduction. Those are great books.

Carnegie, Dale; How to Win Friends and Influence People is a good book too.

I'm currently reading Cialdini, Robert B.; Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. It blows my mind how we can be easily persuaded.

Waiting for your next recommended books.
