Better yet, if marriage is what you want, wait for her to hint at it. Even better yet, wait for her to propose to you!

Jesus. Him walking up the bleachers in the aftermath was just pitiful. Can't say he didn't have it coming though if he's that imperceptive as to think she was going to say yes.

I agree

The problem is if you meet a truly quality chick there is no way in hell she will not want to be married; and she knows she can get a guy to commit any time night or day...girls who are hot, with degrees and jobs want kids...they want that four bedroom house they can't afford...they need a husband's income to achieve that.

The problem is that must dudes these days are AFC chumps who have watched too much Oprah and are willing to sell their empty souls for a small taste of unshaven cooch.

I bet the guy felt that he needed some sort of grand romantic gesture to sweep her off her feet, so he came up with this. Maybe he even felt the pressure of all the people watching would make her answer in the affirmative. If he really was sure she wanted to get married, he probably would have proposed in private, or they would have just decided amongst themselves.

IF that's the case then its really, really pathetic...if a girl isn't chasing you to settle down relatively soon then you're not her 90%+ guy..if you expect a healthy LTR out of her you ain't getting one.

girls chase and guys... to quote chris rock... 'surrender' not the other way around...but then dudes are turning into girls with every passing week it seems.

There you guys go again with your "blame the guy" act. How do we know she hasn't mentioned it, maybe they talked about it, maybe he overheard her friends discussing how much she wants to get married. Maybe he was 100% sure she was going to say yes. Had all the bases covered.

It could be that he's a stupid guy...but it also could be a great guy blindsided by a typical unpredictable unaprreciative dumb stupid *****. I'm thinking it's the latter.

He deserves better, not ridicule

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

Even if they have talked about it, a woman rarely wants the proposal to be public, and I don't blame them one bit.

I think it's exceedingly douchey to orchestrate these public spectacles. Too much can go wrong, and it really should be a private matter unless the girl is a total AW.

And if I EVER find one of you kneeling in supplication to ask a a girl to marry you I will personally kick your ass up and down the street. That kneeling is the mother of all supplications... "I beg of you, would you honor a poor, undeserving sap like me by condescending to be my bride?" When I see a man kneeling in supplication before a woman asking for her acceptance it sickens me. It's unecessary DRAMA that you learned in the movies and I guarantee you that even most girls subconsciously find it disturbing.

A woman NEVER wants to see you supplicating to her. Some of them will say otherwise, but it triggers a very bad response in them subconsciously that gets tucked away. When divorce time comes around in her hamster cage, that picture of you kneeling in front of her will work decidedly against you.

Should a man be pleading with a woman on his knee(s), offering her gifts in order that she will say yes, so that she will "make him the happiest man on earth"? Or is HE offering HER an opportunity for a lifetime of security and provision?

Of course there are YouTube vids of successfull marriage proposals, but it always strikes me that the girl is excited and freaking out because of the fact that she is getting married, not because it's to HIM. The guy always seems to be incidental, a bit-character in the drama of her lifelong fairy-tale coming true.

So true.

If I ever propose, it will NEVER be in public, and I will NOT bend a knee. I also see this as a supplicating gesture. A ring, ok. It's symbolic. But you can bet your as$ I'd be 100% sure that girl wants to marry ME. Not just 'be married'.

Very true.

A woman's true motivations are something most men couldn't come close to comprehending...

Most likely Tom Brady thinks his wife likes him for deep, intrinsic qualities..lol she does not...she was getting older leo had her in her best years and she wanted to settle down with a tall man of suitable stature, fame, income, and docility.. of course he is safe, he would have to lose all his money, talent, and looks to realize this...

I would say 80-90% of western marriages are built on a woman 'needing to be married' rather than a committed bond between the two individuals. Most woman want to be married by age 25-28..the hot ones are...and the 7-8s are taken by 30. all the leftovers are either snaggle tooths or bipolar cvm dumpsters.
