At the end of any relationship, many people say they need "closure". So what they do is contact the person they've broken up with and chat with them. After the meeting or conversation, their emotions are running wild and they feel worse than before they started looking for this mysterious thing called "closure".
Women are horrible for wanting "closure". To them, closure is continuing to converse with their ex until their emotions calm down. How the hell do you get the word "closure" out of this?
I looked up web definitions of the word "closure". This was, by far, the best way to put it:
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&lr=&defl=en&q=define:Closure&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title
The procedure a landfill operator must follow when a landfill reaches its legal capacity for solid waste: ceasing acceptance of solid waste and placing a cap on the landfill site. No more waste can be accepted and a cap usually is placed over the site.
In other words, not taking any more crap!
Another way to look at it, the word "closure" comes from the word "close". IMO, the word "closure" refers to closing a particular chapter on one's life, and moving on to start a new chapter. It makes more sense than looking for emotional satisfaction at the end of a relationship, which rarely (if it ever) happens.
