This year I developed one-itis over a girl and having had some success with girls over the last year and getting the hang of DJing, I was arrogant enough to believe that in time I could win her over with my charm and wit. I ignored the low interest signs
(reluctant to hold eye contact, never touched me, seemed uncomfortable when I touched her, rather flaky, passive) convinced that all I needed to was to keep up the charm and wit and she would fall for me.
I wasted a lot of time and effort on her, and let my emotions take over my head, completely disregarding her interest level. Things came to a head when i invited her to a prom and she was distant all evening and when I made to kiss her she gave me a cheek and said she did not feel that way for me and hoped we could just be friends. I felt like such an idiot.
So, the main lesson I have learnt is that initial interest level/chemistry is a very real thing and if it is not there no amount of charm and wit can turn it around, and you should put aside your ego and move on and look for pretty girls with a high interest level from very early on.
