I'm really liking The Fountainhead. Roark reminds me of my buddy, who is just out of architecture school, moved to the city, and is uncompromising regarding his work. I like Roark's character.
I'm still not sold on Rand's style of writing yet. However, discovering that she is writing in English as a second language explains a lot.
Several people in the forum who have read
The Fountainhead believe that Roark is an actual DJ. Without giving the story away, he does a few very big AFC things which was actually detrimental to his livelihood. Just because a man stands for his convictions, there are times when doing what works is can give you a better outcome than doing what you believe is right.
Atlas Shrugged actually has several characters than more closely embody the forum's idea of what a DJ should be. Qualities such as leadership, camaraderie, focus, foresight, c/f, ingenuity, confidence, intelligence and appreciation to name just a few. Being a DJ is more than just not taking any sh1t, it's about being able to do something about it which doesn't detract from your own livelihood.
