I'm eating a "Triple Delicious" High protein bar right now, 30 grams, and I'm thinking to myself, there must be a better way! There's nothing like the taste of cardboard, haha. I've tried other bars like balance which are a little better, but nowhere near "normal" by any stretch of the imagination.

I like tuna alot, but you can't really take it with you on the go.

What are the best tasting ways to get your daily dose of protein?

Shakes really...

I take 2 scoops of protein per day and have a meal replacement.

Nitrean is 24 grams per serving, and I take 2 scoops post workout or in the evening if I am off training. Thats 48 grams and Opticen (meal replacement) has 52 grams of protein in.

Thats 100 grams JUST in supplements. I eat about 140g outside of that.

Eggs for brekfast, chicken for lunch and chicken before bed. obviously I am eating carbs and fat too but I specifically pointed out my protein sources.

Shakes are definately the best for on the move. Detour are great tasting protein bars, the best I have tasted. They actually taste ok! ;)

If you are not dieting milk can be a good source also.

You kind of have to get used to not-so-good tasting stuff if you want lots of protein. Just grin and bear with the shakes. You should get a shaker bottle with powder in it, and then put some water in it when you want to mix it up. Or, i just saw these bottles at Target that hold the water and powder in separate chambers of the same bottle. Then you just twist the top and it mixes.

My favorite is something i look forward to every morning. In fact, it makes me late to work every morning making it.

It's like a liquid no-bake cookie:

Skim milk
chocolate syrup
Optimum Nutrition vanilla whey protein
Quaker oats, ground in a coffee grinder
Flax seeds, also ground.
Adams peanut butter. (shake hard to mix this up)

Sometimes i add dextrose and maltodextrin.

I always make chicken breasts and take them to work and eat them cold. Dipping them in barbeque sauce makes them awesome, plus the sauce is low in calories/carbs/fat.

If you're a skinny kunt I really wouldn't subsitute foods for protein shakes/bars! I don't need any protein supps because I get all the protein a need from Steak, fish, chicken breast, tuna, eggs.... Who says you can't have Tuna on the go? I do, just get a small can, flip it open, and pig into it with a fork!

If you're bulking and can't get all your protein needs from whole foods then you just aren't eating enough calories in the first place(unless you're eating junk food)

Protein shakes have their place though, just after a workout for example when it can be absorbed quicker buy the body.

Good luck bro.

i used to do that with tuna, but it tastes so bad, which is why i switched to whey powder and milk instead (in addition to regular meats)

True...I aint never been a skinny kunt ;) but when I tried to substitute my protein needs by drinking protein shakes I stopped making gains till I figured out I wasnt consuming enough calories anymore.

I highly recommend getting a George Foreman grill.

In just 5-10 minutes, you can cook chicken, fish, turkey, beef etc...
and it comes out juicy and tasting great.

Many of those Protien bars are often loaded with sugar, which will put your insulin levels on a roller-coaster ride and sugar is just empty calories which will just get converted to fat.

cheese, although also high in fat, has a ton of protein. An added bonus is that you can down quite a lot of cheese w/o feeling sick (pasta, pizza, lasagna), versus canned tuna or broiled chicken.

Somebody said low-cottage cheese (?!) was perfect for the purposes of bulking...sounds like its worth a try. Im not quite sure if low-cottage cheese means low-fat cheese, but I should be able to find cheese that isnt too high in fat I guess

I use 100 whey protein vanilla flavored shakes.

It tastes horrible with water.

My advice, if u have anything thats vanilla flavor, mix it with orange juice.. tastes like one of those orange vanilla ice creams. Quite tasty.

i love my vanilla whey powder with skim milk - tastes really good to me. tried orange and don't like it, plus that adds too many carbs

milk also raises the protein value of the shake

try it sometime

I recently got into eating cottage cheese almost everyday for my pre-bed meal and I gotta say it kicks ass.. my recipe:

1 cup CC
1/3 package dip mix (french onion or italian usually)
2 cloves garlic

mix that up in a blender or food processor and dip celery/broccoli in there.. tastes good and its a good cheap source of casein protein which is ideal for before bed because its slow digesting.. add a couple tbsp of flax oil ( i do it on the side, not in the dip) and you've got one kickass pre-bed meal!

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

I agree with some of the posters above.

George forman grill is aweseome. I grill Filet Mignon, chicken breasts, turkey, pork. You name it. Boil some Broccolli - Or Asparagus - perhaps a salad and you've got lot's of protein. Whats more it's very quick. By you meet and freeze them individually.

Cottage chesse (low fat) is also great. You can put it on toast, crackers or eat it right out of the tub.

I also buy frozen fruit from trader Joes. No added sugar - or any other cr#p. I throw it in a blender with some protein powder and water and you've got a great tasting drink. Leave the fruit frozen - and it's think to.

Omellets are great to. then put cheese and cut up ham - or turkey in the middle - quick and easy especially in the morning.
