How the hell does eating nuts or olive oil before fruit and veg (which are low GI anyway) prevent an insulin spike?

I've drank milk all my life - and it hasn't done my body any harm whatsoever.

I'm not really gonna comment on the rest.. suffice to say I'm not convinced this plan was put together after 'yrs' of trial and error.

And in all your experience, have you found that every single body which follows this exact diet gets exactly the same results?

One last word: PROTEIN.

Well fruits that are high on the GI u can prevent the spike by eating nuts or olive oil 5 minutes before, protine u can get from nuts fish and sardines. this is a safe diet

dairy is bad, hard to digest, turns into fat, and some people get allergies,

when u read a label and it says, does not contain such and such, those foods are dangerous and poisonous to the body

u get all 8 amino acids from eggs and fish
ffrom veggis and fruits nuts seeds and beans u can mix up to get a good ballance,

protien shakes are bad for kidneys

Personally, I don' t drink milk, but I eat Greek yoghurt and feta cheese. The pasteurisation process makes dairy harder to digest than it should be. Unpasteurised, organic dairy produce is GOOD for you, unless you're lactose intolerant of course.

Go go Captain Contradiction.

How is eating 50g of protein from salmon any different to getting 50g of protein from a protein shake? That too much protein is bad for you is bull****. Yes, there's a limit, but do you really think that when we were cavemen, we took little nibbles of some carcass, and left the rest to rot?

Furthermore, as cavemen, we wouldn't have eaten beans or lentils.

There are 20 amino acids. The 8 amino acids you're referring to are the 'essential amino acids'.

You eat fish? OH MY GOD MERCURY POISONING!!!!

Yes, nuts are good for you, seeds are good for you, but you obviously haven't got this 'down to a science' through all your 'years of trial and error'.

Give us a meal plan for your normal day, calculate how much protein you're getting from it, and how much you really enjoy eating it.

Sure, grains may not be the healthiest foods for you, but if you eat them in moderation, they're not going to kill you.

I love you man. Stuff 'em in wholemeal pitta bread (GRAIN ALERT!), warm under the grill and drizzle with olive oil and oregano. Nutritionally not the best thing to eat, but damned tasty!

For lunch today I had feta, boiled eggs and tuna on toast, with a good drizzle of olive oil. Feta is the tastiest cheese I've come across. For the 10 days that I was in Greece recently, I ate feta every day, either in a Greek salad, spinach pie, or whatever else. Great stuff. I may just move abroad when I'm older; the state of the food industry over here is appalling.

Aaaanyway...apparently, "Feta is made from drained instead of pressed curd that means even higher omega-3 and CLA levels for you."

Since feta's made from goat and ewe's milk, it's even better for you, ("If you have access to raw goat or sheep milk, good for you! This is probably the best dairy available anywhere. If you do not have a goat share or other access to such dairy, you can also use cow milk. Cow dairy can be problematic for those not of Northern or Western European ancestry, however. Goat proteins are considerably smaller, more easily absorbed and seem to be less allergenic for many people.)

So what was at first glance not nutritionally sound, becomes a delightfully delectable dainty snack.

The danger of saturated fat is totally blown out of proportion. This is a very good read.

Mercola's writing makes a lot of sense, even though I'll never cut grains out of my diet completely, (seriously...a life without grains would be damn boring).

Goat's milk is cool, but cow dairy doesn't bother me.. I'm very lactose tolerant. :)

Fetta's lovely stuff I agree.. I had a phase when I couldn't face it though, I was sent to a military academy in Greece when I was in the army, for six months I had a huge slab of fetta every damn day .. I couldn't face the stuff for a coupla years afterwards, lol.

I don't think the omega3 levels would be massively high though - flax and fish would always be my chief sources of this.

But no, saturated fat is NOT the enemy by any means, especially not to athletes. For the average sedentary person possibly an overdose of saturated fat would lead to artery trouble, but we don't come under that category so all's well.

And as for grains, well. If it comes out of the ground, it's a natural wholesome food and I'd never cut it out of my diet. I go for wholegrains though, they taste better.
