They say one of the worst days in a guy's life is when he finally realizes that he's starting to lose his hair. I'm 31, going to be 32 in May and while I've been seeing gray hairs popping up more and more in the last couple years, I was just glad I hadn't seen my hairline receding. Well, now it looks like it's finally happening. The crown of my hair, especially the right side is starting to thin out. I'm a black dude, I wear a short, curly type of fro, think like Lenny Kravitz used to have, but just shorter, so I'm kind of limited in what I can do other than just shave my whole head. Which I don't want to do because I really like my hair and it fits so well with my style. Damn, this sucks!

My dad, lucky bastard, he's going on 60 and hasn't lost a single hair yet. I was hoping I'd inherit that, but I guess not. :(

Any viable options?

fish oil, vitamin E, protein, and heavy lifting should slow it down or prevent it.

Uh.......negative.
None of these things have much to do with it.

Hair loss is caused by production of DHT.
DHT is a by product of Testosterone.
Follicles have cell signal receptors specifically for DHT. Once the DHT molecule is attacehd to the cell receptor site in the follicle, it triggers a process of shedding ,and eventually death of the hair follicle.

Fish oil may reduce inflammation, and help hormonal profiles, in addition it affects blood lipids. I haven't seen any evidence ethat Fish Oils positively affect hair loss. The are essential for healthy hair though.

Vitamin E isn't directly related to hair health either, so it doesn't stand to reason that supplementing with it will reduce hair loss.

Heavy lifitng does signal the body to release Testosterone and Growth Hormone, and IGF 1,. But it has no effect on hair loss.
It does increase blood circulation however, and has many health improving effects. But it cannot by itself reduce or stop hair loss.

It odoes stand to reason that if there is poor circulation in your scalp , you may want to try to massage your scalp. But you obviously can't lift weights with your scalp.

Healthy hair does need the following;

Amino Acids

Keratin

B Complex vitamins

Zinc

Essential Oils (topical mainly, for luster , shine, smoothness, flexibility, and plialbilty, reduces brittleness)

Saw Palmetto is a natural substance that can help block the cell receptor site from attaching to DHT molecules in your bloodstream.

You may want to look into this:

I haven't tried it, and I don't know of anyone personally that has. But it does stand to reason that it looks pretty effective.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Is Rogaine the real deal or just snake oil? Damn, never thought the day would come where I'd be asking about Rogaine. I can't let this happen. I'd rather my d*ck be 2 inches shorter than lose my hair!!!

Dude, quit whining. You think you have it bad? I'm 19 and my hair line has been receeding for several years already. It's now starting to get to the point where its going to be noticible very soon, AND I"M NOT EVEN 20! By 30+ that's about normal, you'll be fine.
