The best mental cure for your lovesick NC blues is to internalize that you never know what better person is out there for you if you would’ve stayed with/taken back the one who made you go NC in the first place. You should learn and grow from past mistakes, and not carry over baggage to the better relationship you will have in the future. 
Something happened to me yesterday that is basically the same scenario, but not involving a woman....
I was running some errands and needed to stop at the bank to deposit some cash. I had decided to go to the one closest to my house. I had other errands on my mind and drove right past the bank, and didn't realize I had passed it until I was a good mile away. Since I still had other errands to run elsewhere in town,
I decided to go to another branch instead of turning around. (Oooohhhh, a deep meaning here)
I pulled into the other bank's parking lot just in time to see an elderly gentleman walking away from the ATM. When I stepped up to the ATM, not only had this guy left his card in the machine, but he had also failed to close his transaction... His account was wide open and ready for business. I ended his transaction and ran to his car right before he pulled away (holding his card in the air so he could hopefully see why I was sprinting towards his car, LOL).
He and his elderly wife were very grateful, and had I gone to the other bank, lord knows who may have wound up with his money and account information. All I know is I'm glad I kept going instead of turning around. I had the satisfaction of helping someone, and they were able to potentially avoid tons of trouble with their bank accounts.
