Don Juan
The first step in becoming a Don Juan is to overcome your shyness. Once you are COMFORTABLE going up to strangers and eventually attractive women and starting a conversation, you are already 3/4 of the way to becoming a Don Juan. It is then simply a matter of experimentation to develop specific DJ skills.
These are some good starting sites for shyness:
alt.support.shyness FAQ
Resources for Shy people
Here is an excellent article called Seduction Approach Mentality which is required reading for anyone who is just starting out.
I also strongly suggest going to your local library and getting some books on 'Conversation'. The articles on sosuave.com are good but I think it is extremely useful to have access to a more in depth resource on this subject.
Edward De Bono has an excellent book called "How to Be More Interesting" which I recommend to EVERYONE. The author takes a more theoretical approach and aims at developing the reader's habits when it comes to playing with ideas. If you feel that you are "boring" in conversation this book is a must.
A lot of the DJ stuff about approaching women also applies to overcoming general shyness. The only problem is that if you are already shy then jumping all the way up to talking with HBs might be too big a step. The key to overcoming shyness is to move progressively - start conversations with people you know, then move to strangers like cashiers or whatever, and keep going until you are comfortable starting a conversation with attractive women on the street.
