I just started drinking green tea this week.

Do you really need to steep it in hot water?

Or can I just tear open the pouch and just dump the leaves into a pitcher of cold water? Which is what I'm doing now.

Hot water. Plus the sweat and increase in metabolism will help you with your body fat %. Not to mention you're getting a lot of water. I love green tea. You can heat it then let it cool if you want.

What? Why would hot water make you burn more calories?

Cold water needs heated by the body before it's absorbed so that's what would burn a very minimal amt of calories. Since when does sweating burn fat?

I'm just saying unless it's brewed and steeped you won't derive all the benefits of green tea. I remember being told doesn't matter if you like it cold but you need all the chemicals to come out of the leaves otherwise you'll just have water and leaves. I also remember learning in chem class hotter water has a higher solubility. Anyway Green tea is a known boost to metabolism in addition to the water it makes you consume.

My apologies if I confused you by saying sweating. The best way I can put it is now that Ephedra has run into a couple problems with the FDA most of those supplements have added green tea extract which is said to be just a little less effective.
