I've been tanning for about a year and a half now, and have gone from being pasty white to golden brown... the only problem that I'm having is that my face is hardly any darker than when I started. My theory on this is that it's because it's been exposed to the sun for so many years (unlike your stomach, which usually tans easiest because for the majority of your life you have it covered with clothing... unless you live in a nudist colony...) and has built up a tolerance to UVA/UVB rays. I've tried using a good amount of lotions, from Cali Tan X Power to "special facial accelorators" - all of which haven't done a whit for it... in fact, the only thing that HAS worked was the mystic tan (right before spring break). Sadly, after a few days I was back to normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might use or do differently to darken up my face through tanning?

Dude i think its all in your head. Im sure you are quite dark but since you are so accustomed to seeing yourself this way your mind might play some tricks on you making you think your face isnt dark enough when in reality it is very dark.

Btw take it easy on the tanning otherwise your gonna be lookin like a shriveled up prune. Be proud of you color, honkey!

The Bishop, there are actually a few reasons to why your face is usually lighter -

-the skin in your face is the thinnest. Therefore, it it more "transparent" than the rest of your body under certain lights.

-the skin in the face peels more often, especially if you use any facial products. As a result, the face looses the tan much quicker. The legs retain the tan the longest because the skin there is thick.

Idealistically, you want your face to be slightly lighter than the rest of your body. A dark face on a really light body looks strange.

I have the same problem. When you shave, you are shaving your tan away, literally. To solve this problem, i buy a facial bronzer; the bronzer looks great and natural if you do not apply too much!

I play tennis, and I've got what's known as a "farmer's tan." My forearms and leg from my knee to my foot are all tanned. My body and thighs are not tanned. You may think asians aren't like that, but I can pass for a white guy if you take out my face and arms...part of legs....etc. Any help on this? How to "untan?" Or tan my body, with out tanning the already tanned parts? Thanks.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

common sense bro, lose the shirt while you practice, and wear slightly shorter shorts. Put heavy duty sunscreen on the parts that are already tanned.

or

just go lay out, its fun.

Yo Bishop. Did the mystic tan cause u to break out. Ive never done it cuz im afraid that itll make me break out.

Has ne1 who has acne ever done it? If so, lets here some results ladies!

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

hehe... I waaaaay prefer "ripped" or "cut." Toned just lends itself to so many incorrect bodybuilding connotations.

Nope, I didn't break out, and I let it develop overnight. Then again, I'm taking Accutane and tanning just about every day, which might have something to do with it... as well as Stridex pads and Retin-A... and that blackhead stuff that Neutrogena just came out with. (Compulsive? I suppose.. I looked like a pepperoni pizza back in high school, and I'll be damned if I'm going to ever look that way again...)

FUKC yeah, tell me about it!! I hate that sh*t. Everytime I get a great tan, my body keeps it for ages, and my face looses it after a week or two!! I find shaving or facial products also get rid of your tan quicker. I use this wierd azz skin medication, to keep your skin really young looking by taking away excess layers of skin, but this keeps my tan away!! Although I always get asked what I use on my skin, some lady came upto me in a resteraunt the other day and asked me what I used cause appraently my skin looks like "peeches and cream", hahaha.

I found the only way to keep it is to use a tanning lotion every couple of days. Skin, and hair are the most important assets to a mans looks!!
