Talking to Women on IM

I have never used IM or talked to people online really. I set up a myspace page strictly for keeping contact with all my old friends from school. This hot chick contacts me and wants to be added as a friend. Then she sends me a message and wants to chat sometime on IM. She's hot so it's worth a go. The thing is I have no idea what to talk about on IM. Anyone have any tips, suggestions, etc. or can you point me to some posts that go into it? Thanks

Notice that Shezz said "life". You don't have to talk about anything recent if nothing recent happened. You probably have lots of stories from the past to tell, so tell those.

The best part about online chat, is it allows you to think. No need to be spontaneous. You can take 2 minutes to think of the perfect ****y funny line... perfect opener etc... its easy ****. Don't get caught up in it though, online talk does not replace real life talk lol.

I like to say something about how I am at work or doing something else while I am talking. That will explain why it takes you so long to respond, when you are actually sitting there thinking of what to say. Of course if you meet in person you cannot sit there for two minutes, so don't rely on that.

Also, from my experience, it is best not to try and CF or negs online. Wait until you meet in person for that. CF comes naturally to me, but it can be taken as an insult online. Be sure to use smileys if you do.

I love freakin' IMs. I'm able to use my sense of humor very very easily.. Plus you get that extra little time to think when you're on the IM. Just be fun, I tend to use smilies humorously. I tend to use the "...." humourously too. You can also use stuff to indicate actions *pretending I didn't hear that.

Nah actually i'm not, that's the thiings I did when I was an AFC... sitting on the computer sending notes and crap to random girls, its pathetic to me now, but also you're not me so if that's what you gotta do... more power to you, but IMO its pathetic for someone who is a self-proclaimed DJ....

I wonder why all the myspace and online type of threads are so popular, because most people here are KBJ and sit around doing this with there spare time, i don't mean to sound mean but i feel sad for ya'll
