I find it very annoying to see how whenever i am taking notes from a teacher/professor. I take notes on everything that he/she says, including the important ones. However, i still struggle to go back and read my notes to see what i did. But when i do, i don't get it. It's like i missed one step to it. Anyone have tips? No distractions, no sounds, but write write write is all i ever did. Hearing is one thing i have tried. I don't think it is my fault, but then again, other classmates do better than me. This gets me angry.

I never take notes in lectures. I just absorb what the professor is saying. Understanding 10% of a lecture is better than writing 100% down.

You can find it all from books anyway which are inevitably more detailed.

tough question.

and really depends on the subject.

take calculus for example.
absorbing 10% from a lecture would then make it hard to do the course work.
what i did was take every note he drew up on the board explaining how to solve the problems, but i also added arrows all over the place and notes explaining each step.
that was easy to study from before exams.

but in other subjects, business/engineering based theory ones that i do, i find it extremely difficult to even listen, let alone take notes. i think in lectures like these, just listening and understanding is best, but i still struggle with that.
