Who has seen this movie? Very very interesting. There are two sides to every story, is this simply an extreme version trying to defend the Muslim world, or is this very true? Was there a stage where Iran could have become a democracy, trying to build infrastructure for its people and advance them economically?

Personally, I think its typica liberal hollywood bs. I'm not really going to believe a word of that movie until I do some research on my own about it

Yeah, thats what Im trying to figure out. The war on Iraq did come at a perfect time, when the United States was slipping into recession or stagnation. Further, it would enable some control over oil, as with the Iran case. Further, Iran is used as a strategic military point in the middle east. It all does make sense, but it does seem like it is a bit one sided story, trying to simply tell the story from the Arabic side, as the media does from the States side. Its trying to find a middle ground that is the hard part..............

It's a good flick. It has elements of truth, elements of fantasy, and of course, enough HollyWood stuff there to make it enjoyable. Sure they like to occasionally make a statement on modern society or world events, but in the end they are a business and they want to make money off of any venture they proceed with, so unbiased truth goes out the window to some extent. They didn't make it the way they did because of a liberal agenda, they did it the way they did becaue they felt that way would sell the best. Left wing or right wing politics both take a back seat to box office numbers.

I liked it, kinda like traffic (produced by the same guy) only with oil.

...I don't suggest discussing it because it's pretty political (big no no on the forum) but if you do...well i guess there's nothing I can really say.

suggestion: Just post "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" nothing more. lets keep it friendly kids:up:
I posted this after the movie came out in december of 05. I thought it was a good moive overall.

I did like Traffic better though. I find the drug trade much more facinating then the oil trade.

Back in college, I took classes on criminal profiling and on terrorism. The film did an excellent job at demonstrating the psychological process and predispositions which compel youngsters into being suicide bombers. One other great film from last year was Munich, which IMO should have won Best Picture.

Sorry to cut the discussion short, but the fact of the matter is that discussions of a political nature aren't allowed on this forum. Thanks for recognizing and appreciating that fact.
