Super-Slow Training

Alright lately Ive been hearing a lot on the "Super-Slow Training" method in the news, which is basically when you lift instead of normally taking 4-6 seconds to complete you take 14-16.

Ive heard that there are fantastic gains to be made here, but it just doesnt make sense to me that this would produce any noticable benefits. Also I tend not to believe too much I see on TV.

Anyone tried this and found results?

Most likely, the only gains you will be making is muscle mass gain. You will get bigger, but not much stronger. It depends on what you are looking for. To get bigger, super-slow may be the way to go. To make strength gains, explosive lifting is the way to go.

Yeah, you definitely wont get much strength out of it. You won't activate any fast-twitch fibers either, and those are larger than slow-twitch.

No harm in giving it a shot, I was planning on trying it out for about 3 months in a lil' whlie to see how it goes. Experiment with this stuff and then you'll know how it works for you.

Super slow training was popularised a good 10 years ago if memory serves me right. It was a passing fad then and no doubt will be the same again.

Hell, you can incorporate anything you want into your workouts, just keep them based on the tried and true principles.

That super-slow training sounds like a great way to mix up your routine. I know that if I don't mix it up once in a while, I stop gaining as much. Try it for a day or two and then go back to explosive and see if that doesn't work wonders for you.
