I was lazy over the summer and have a litle small amount of extra padding on the bottom part of my belly. Everything else on me looks allright. I do need to bulk up, so suggestions on how to lose the fat and get bulk at the same time would be great.

I naturally have small abs down in the "V" area, my abs are pretty decent below the "padding" however the closer you get to my firehose, my stomach goes from the fatty place to a much lower place as a result of no fat and no muscle down there whatsoever.

I'm built in a weird way, I'm short and barrel chested, with a big muscley butt legs...suggestions?

depends how much weight you wanna gain. if you wanna gain 20-30lbs - bulk up and keep your fat levels under control. otherwise you can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, but it's a slow process and you have to be a) consistent, b) precise and c) knowledgeable of your own body - it won't produce dramatic results unless you get everything right.

Did I mention I want more bulk, and to generally tighten things up? I'm in good health, I just don't look like I want to.

I'm 5'5" . 135-140 lbs (depending on when I weigh). I have a muscular build, and am a runner, so I am in extremely good cardiovascular health. I was born with short achilles tendons, so my calves are huge and muscley, as are my thighs and butt. My upper body is very strong, partially thanks to my low center of gravity. I have a barrel chest, decently sized arms that are strong, my pecs could really use some definition work, as could my upper and lower abs. Generally, I need to lose the bellyfat, make my lower abs even with my upper abs, and define the rest of my body, and build strength once defined whilest trying to maintain the same size. I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, I basically want to have a runner's streamlined, yet strong toned body.

Here's a self portrait of my body (sorry for my crappy mouse hand drawing skills). First arrow is my flat, strong, yet undefined upper abs, above it is my not super strong not well defined pecs, the middle arrow is my bellyfat, the lower arrow is my lower abs/pubic region that needs great help.

And what of body hair? I trim it, but having black hair everywhere sucks. I guess I'll wait, and whenever married I'll give wifey the choice: keep it or laser it off...haha.

sounds like you need to diet off the fat if you want to be 'defined'.

you can gain strength just fine while dieting.

Diet would be hard here at teh college I am at. The food is all fatty for the most part. And the lower abs won't even out even if I do lose that little belly.

if you have a layer of fat covering your abs, then no amount of bulking up will make them show through, in fact they'll probably get even less defined.

dieting at a college is perfectly doable if you put your mind to it and plan accordingly. fatty food is fine for dieting as long as you don't mix it with carby food.

making your lower abs "even" with your upper abs involves dieting off the fat that covers them, so that will work. if they're genetically misshapen to stick out more than your upper abs then there's nothing you can do about that (though I don't think that's your problem) short of cosmetic surgery.

I'm fairly sure you'll get your abs back when running season starts again though. weight gain would be counterproductive to your running anyway
