Sudden bloating (water retention?)

My abs are generally in decent shape, yet some days I wake up and my belly is bloated and flabby. It's always right at the bottom of my belly and love handles.

I am guessing it's subcutaneous water retention because it comes and goes almost overnight sometimes.

I'd like to know what causes it and how I can stop it from happening? Do excess carbs cause a gain in water weight? Generally, can anyone enlighten me.

If your belly is flabby it's probably fat, unless you go from donut cop at night to ripped mr.6 pack in the morning, in which case I don't even know what your concern is.

Creatine also causes water retention, so does drinking lots of milk.

Hmm, well at night, I look slightly bloated, and my abs are far less visible, whereas in the morning, I look much more ripped. I don't drink milk by the way, tho I drink quite a lot of water. I guess this is a common thing, looking more bloated and less cut at night?

Happens to me since I was a kid. When I was 8-yrs-old, I used to be almost 25 lbs underweight and you could see my bones, yet I had a huge belly who was as hard as hell.

Last year I was 8% bodyfat and I used to have visible veins in my arms and a 8-pack, but sometimes my belly would show up and cover my belly.

Now I care less about it because I know there's not much I can do about it.

Probably, in order to get rid of that, you should go as low as 7% bodyfat, but I don't know if that's worth enough, unless you're already pretty muscular.

I don't remember exactly, but I did have (oven) chips in one meal, then had chicken with potatoes in my pre-bed meal. Maybe a little too many carbs or starchy foods, and I did boil the potatoes with a bit of salt so maybe too much salt.

If it changes every day or every other day it's slim that it's fat. I'd focus on looking into your digestive system.

Ive noticed that with myself, but its ussually cuz i need to take a crap, once i do, my abs look more formed. haha.
