Yesterday, these two kids were using dumbells. However, they did not put the dumbbells back. The weights were all in the wrong place too...I was pretty pissed off. I went up to them and said that they should put the weight back or else me or someone else would have to do it...Then about an hour later, this guy who is about 6'4 230+ pounds left 2 75's dumbells laying around. I didnt say anything because this guy is like twice my size.

How do you guys handle stupid people like this? should i say something or just leave it? I was pretty pissed off because this kinda **** prevents
my workout from flowing smoothly...

Yeah I hate this too. It's just arrogance and laziness. Shows a complete lack of respect for other users and gym staff. Sometimes it's like banging your head against a brick wall trying to get through to these morons.

Well, don't have a condecending tone and walk up to the guy and tell him to put the weights back. Or you could mention it to someone on the staff, but thats like being a tattle tail. I highly doubt that he'd try anything on you in the middle of a gym if you be courteous.

Or you can stop worrying so much about little stuff.

If u dont like it, say it, but if it is something small , who cares?

you proved that you are actually weak by not saying anythig to the big guy. i suggest u stop worrying about what other people will do to you.

The thing i get irritated it at is when teenagers come in wearing Jeans and a hoodie sweater with casual shoes and coming in to 'work out'. Hogging up space and equipment, doin things wrong, not putting stuff away, tyhen just standing there for 15 minutes goofing off.

THis may not be a problem witha lot of you if you go to membership gyms, but i go to a gym at my local swimming pool, so i get alot of dumba$$es in there...

Nooo there are plenty of idiots at the gym... I know it sucks. I also see guys who are obviously on Juice (roids) so I don't bother saying anything for the most part. Is there a solution? I just do it myself, especially if the weights are in a place where someone can get hurt by tripping on them.

Bad gym manners aren't worth worrying about unless they're distracting (shouting after reps, horrible and pungent smell, etc) or dangerous (dropping or throwing the weights down, interfering with your space).

Teenagers who come in and lift in jeans and hoodies just made poor choices in workout clothing. If they're using the equipment, they're not hogging it. If they're just sitting on the equipment, I've never met a person who didn't let me work in if I asked. If they're standing around, off the equipment, and talking, that's their business and you can easily ignore them.

Some people have bad manners, but don't let it annoy you.

Poor Gym Etiquitte. Can't stand it, but what can you do?

I've been a member of a prvaitely owned gym for 14 years. You will never get rid of these idiots.

I've encountered all of the above (even smelly guys/girsls) but my biggest pet peeve are Personal Trainers who think that they have more "rights" to equipment than the normal members.

Where I work out, the gym will let private trainers train clients. The gym gets a % of thier fee in return. Some (not all) will try to hog several machines or benches during peak hours. I've mentioned it to the staff, but they don't care. They're getting paid...

Go to a classy gym. I pay big bucks for my gym and it is very nice. People follow the rules, however I have noticed people are slacking a bit. They usually put the weights back, but not always in the right spot, whereas last year they were almost always in the right spot. It is up to the gym owners to create a positive atmosphere. People just see what other people do and then copy them so if everyone is putting weights back, then you are stigmatized if you don't put them back. Plus, my gym has a torture chamber for anyone who leaves the really heavy weights out.
