Hi guys,

I'm 6ft, 175lbs. I'm trying to aim for 185lbs at least, but it's extremely difficult for the following reasons:
1. i don't eat eggs b/c of cholesterol
2. i don't eat red meats b/c of cancer/heart disease
3. i play intense basketball
4. GOMAD is really difficult because I'm somewhat lactose intolerant. There is a limit to how much milk I can ingest before diarrhea kicks in.

It's so hard for me to gain weight. I'm gradually losing weight too. When I used to eat 6 eggs a day several months ago, I used to be 180-185lbs. But I stopped because I'm worried about high cholesterol.

So this year in college, I don't have a meal plan, so no more all you can eat buffets at the dining hall. I buy groceries for the first time in my life because they're cheaper, and eat the following whenever I'm hungry:
1. pasta in tomato sauce
2. breaded chicken (suppose one slab of chicken is about the size of a deck of cards, i eat about 4 card decks worth of chicken per day, one for each small meal i eat)
3. veggies (celery, broccoli, green peppers)
4. yogurt
5. whole milk
6. mixed nuts

I don't know how to cook, and it's especially hard to ingest lean chicken by itself to my full capacity. I can't find any foods that taste good and pack a good amount of protein. I'm really at a loss of what to eat.

Can someone help me? I want to gain 10-20lbs in the healthiest and yummiest possible way.

I think you will be fine eating eggs: just hard boil them and don't eat the yokes (more cholesterol). I'm not an expert, but I think egg whites are going to be healthier (and more protein rich) than all that dairy.

Acknowledge that your body does indeed need cholestrol. Every blood cell in your body has it. Eggs contain good cholesterol/good natural saturated fats. Fish contain good fats (omega 3's), as do raw walnuts, and flax seeds. Let us get this straight, natural good fats are good for people and thee hormonal system. Take advantage of them and the body will achieve an optimal state. This means get some natural monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, omega 3 fat's, and saturated fats in every day.

2. i don't eat red meats b/c of cancer/heart disease

Everything in moderation my friend. Have a meal of beef, than one of some fish, one of eggs and one of chicken. You are not a fat man sitting on his ass day in, day out with a hereditary background of heart disease. To make it short, chill the hell out.

3. i play intense basketball
4. GOMAD is really difficult because I'm somewhat lactose intolerant. There is a limit to how much milk I can ingest before diarrhea kicks in.

Take lactose pills, drink lactaid. This can get expensive. So in turn I suggest you make your own mass gaining shakes. Make olive oil, oats, peanut butter and a decent quality protein powder your friend or do what my buddy does and use raw eggs. Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 routine is well worth the money and I highly suggest it.

Again chill the hell out. Sheesh. At one point I ate 6-8 whole eggs every damn day, on top of many beef based meals. I got my cholestrol checked out after a year and it was better than optimal. My HDL was nice and high and bad cholestrol was real low. I stayed on top of my fish oil through out the whole year also.

Read this article written by my buddy, whom just recently deadlifted over 600 + lbs, benched 300+ lbs, squatted around 500 lbs in competition. He did this all being a real lean 189.7 lbs (offseason he is 200+ lbs and still lean, he is a short **** too ha) Oh yeah and that was an elite total he secured in his first ever sanctioned meet.

here are some ideas for you
ground beef or turkey and salsa with some whole wheat tortillas

whole egg omlettes (**** egg whites seriously, you are not a dieting bodybuilder getting ready for the olympia, christ) with salsa and fresh veggies

spaghetti with ground beef and a bit of fresh basil

here is a chili recipe.

Ingredients:

4 lbs extra lean ground beef (96%)
4 cans kidney beans (15.5 oz per can), drained and rinsed
2 large onions, chopped
2 large tomatoes, chopped
1 lb carrots, peeled and sliced
4 bell peppers — 1 green, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 orange, cut into 1/2-inch squares
6 cloves garlic, chopped
Two 46-fl oz bottles V8 vegetable juice, spicy hot
Cashew meal

Spices:

4 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 2 tsp paprika, 1 tsp celery seed, 1 tsp fresh ground pepper (for a quicker version, you can use 3 packages chili seasonings mix, but it won't be quite the same!)

Cooking Instructions:

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, one pound at a time, over high heat together with the garlic and onions. If your skillet is large enough (i.e., a wok), you can brown the beef all at once to save time. On the last batch, add the spices after the beef is browned and continue frying for another couple of minutes.

Add the browned beef to a very large pot with a lid, and then add the beans, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, and V8 juice. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer. To make the cashew meal, process the cashews in a blender in short bursts, until a grainy meal is formed. Don't process for too long or you'll have cashew butter. Stir in the cashew meal, cover, and simmer for an additional 30 minutes. Makes 10 servings

you want to know why world-class bodybuilders are wearing layers of sweats/t-shirts in those fancy photo shoots of them lifting crazy amounts? because they dont want you to see the spare tire they put on in the offseason when theyre building all that mass. comes with the territory.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.
