Hey everyone,
Well here is the deal. I dropped out of football awhile back due to injuries but all my good friends who still are avid players have been bugging me to death to come back. So in about 3 weeks from now I transfer into off season training and then onto Spring training and then summer then the season next year.

What I am hoping to attain is a lot of strength. I haven't worked out hard in quite awhile and my friends are working out with what I used to max. Now not only this but I don't want to just get big and bulky. Right now I am just kind of stocky. With a shirt on I do not look fat at all but am a little thicker then most people.

Should I just lift like crazy and do lots of cardio? I'm currently trying to give up everything but water and close associates of its like Gatorade and etc. Coke is nothing but bad for ya ;). Sound like I am on the right track? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you need to give your weight (possibly in kg), height (possibly in cm) and your goal, as in do you want to put on a little weight, do you want to gain strength, or lose weight or gain strength and size, etc. and also what position you play, better still tell me what your position needs, (we don't play american football here in Australia, just Rugby), does it need speed, strength, cardio, all, etc.

tell me those and i'll give you a routine.

Going out for Defensive End or Free Safety. Its going to be either one of those. The way you train for each one is a little contradictory to the other unfortunately = \. Free Safety needs to have a lot of quickness while a D end needs to just be able to knock people around. But what I am going for is a loss of body fat but increase of muscle. Right now its like I have a moderately thin layer of fat covering the muscles of my stomach/chest/ and legs.
I'm 5"11 and weigh 165 lbs. Like I said just a slight layer of fat covering those muscles. Thanks for the help guys.
