I'm 6 ft and 210, I lost 25 lbs in the last 8 months, but as soon I eat anything I gain 5 lbs. I workout 5 or more days a week, with short intense cardio. I have an office job that I sit on my a$$ all day.

When I was younger, up to about 35 years old I could eat anything and not gain a pound.

Is there anything I can do to increase my metabolism?

eat 6-8 small meals per day instead of 3 big meals it will increase metabolism

edit: i think u are just looking for a quick fix ? if u want to lose much fat than u have to lift weights because muscle mass increases metabolism damn much and watch what you eat of course

eat small meals, 6-8 per day

drink 2-3 glasses of green tea a day.

No high-GI carbs about 4-5 hours before going to bed and take it easy on the low GI ones at this time.

I do lift weights with my workout.

But. I've been only eating twice a day. Morning and Afternoon. Will try smaller meals a few more times a day.

I've been watching eating after 3pm and seldom do. Only on dates and stuff.

GI I had to do a search that, I guess its "Glycemic Index" Found a couple good sites on my search.

Do you know if there is any relationship between the lack of sunlight and weight gain?

I live in NE PA and this time of the year I go work in the dark and only have an hour of daylight after work.

Thanks for your help

OK, bear in mind some of that 25lbs was muscle.

Muscle needs fuelling even at rest. Weight training as an integral part of you weight maintenance will help by adding some muscle.

Also over your diet period your body got used to less cals.

Make sure one day a week you up the calories, this helps prevent calorie adaption.

Keep on counting cals and see your current diet as a long term healthy diet rather than short term one.

With aerobic exercise 4x30mins and 2x WT a week you body should find equilibrium.

Add high water content veggies to all you meals helps alot, so I'm told.

You need to try to eat at least 5 times a day, if not try around 6-7.

I see one of your biggest problems is the fact you say you try not to eat after 3pm.

That means your body is starving until what, 6-7am.

3pm till 6am is a long time for your body to starve. Your body has to store everything because it feels like its never going to eat again.

Thats why splitting meals up is a common and good way to go. Your body doesnt feel like your starving it. Your metabolism will def speed up because its getting a consistent amount of nutrients into its system.

Eating twice a day at say 7am and 3pm only makes your metabolism slow down. It needs to store everything because its not getting enough of anything.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day as well.
