Started exercising again.. elbows hurt after lifting?

I recently started lifting again and now a day after I do so, my elbows will be extremely sore. It becomes painful for me to either fully extend my arms or fully bend them (touch my shoulders). It lasts 2-3 days and will feel less painful with time.

Nothing wrong with my form.. this happens from simple curls and pushups, not even benching or other bar lifts. I don't know if it's some kind of mineral/vitamin defficiency or if I need to be doing some stretching (which I already do) or what.

If anyone has any insight on this I'd appreciate it. This is preventing me from getting into a solid routine.

From your title "starting excercising again" I assume you've started lifting after a relatively long hiatus from the gym? If this is the case, the soreness will go away in time. It's just a sign that your body (specifically the muscles in your arms) haven't been stressed/worked out with such rigor for some time, and they need to get back in shape.

Check out Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) if you want to learn more.

You'll get better; keep on workin'!

It's not general soreness as the pain isn't in the muscles, I suspect the tendons. I stopped for only a few weeks to concentrate on schoolwork.

I looked up tennis elbow but the pain is not the outside of my elbow, it's on the inner part.

I've experienced this before (when I took up lifting again like you) after I did some curls. I couldn't extend my forearms all the way because my biceps were so sore. But the soreness went away after a few days and further exercise didn't cause such a degree of discomfort again.

1) calm down with the mineral/vitamin defficiency, you're not gonna die.
2) which exercises have you done? (all of them)
3) if you have curled, what kind of bar have you used?

sounds like too much curling and/or inappropriate stretching. stronglifts' questions will help us diagnose.

it does not sound like DOMS or a nutritional deficiency.
