Hey guys. I sprained my ankle yesterday. Im pissed off cuz my soccer try-outs are on monday. Got more mad when friends told me it might take about 1-2 weeks for it to heal. I just wanted to ask you guys whats the fastest way to bring down swelling and heal it?

THANKS

might wanna take a warm bath and soak in it.
it helps if you use episom salt in the water.

makes the swelling go down and relieves the muscle pain.

I broke my foot last week and I know how you feel. The best way to get rid of swelling is RICE. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Get a compression/ace bandage, wrap around ankle and put ice on it. Elevate the ankle above your heart so fluid can drain and hope for the best.

If it is noticably swollen or has any discoloration you're probably out for monday but it all depends I've had a sprain ankle heal up real fast and others that stuck around forever. If your ankle was pretty warmed up when you sprained it then it will heal up faster.

The best thing I would recommend that I've done in the past is stretch out your ankle by stretching out your calves. In physio offices there are these cylinder foam things that you put up against the wall then place your feet against it to stretch but regular calve stretches will probably do the trick.

Icing is probably something that should have been done right away and the more time that goes by the less effective icing it will be. Icing a newly sprained ankle immediatly tries to constrict the blood vessels that have been broken open since blood vessels are no longer breaking open in your ankle then icing will decline in it's effectiveness. But it can't hurt to keep doing it.

Compression will give your ankle the support that is has lost through the sprain so it is definitely a good idea. If this is a serious sprain then get some crutches cause you'll make it worse by walking on it and lengthen the recovery time.

best of luck...

That's the best I can do for you. Except definitely don't push it too much - if you come back with a sprained ankle and it's not healed a whole lot, you run the risk of tearing stuff up and having to be out of commission for a whole lot longer.
