Is that even true? Many women like sports as much as guys these days. Not so sure it's a "guy thing" as much as it used to be. Go to any pro game and half the audience is women. Granted some are dragged by their boyfriends and husbands, but they get into it too.

I agree with the original poster that I'd rather be playing than watching, but I find watching sports entertaining as well. It can be a fun diversion from the regular 9 to 5 grind.

im fairly indifferent about ball sports, but I love UFC.

As far as I'm concerned though, the greatest sports were the ancient Roman games. Throw men and bears and lions in a pit, and see what happens. That had to be the best.

I like playing sports as much as anyone, but the practice, dedication and durability involved in professional athletics is truly something to behold. I watch sports because I'll never be any of those people. Anyone can be an athlete but when it comes to being a superior athlete or human in peak physical condition for a specific sport, we're not talking about a very large population.

Also, I like sports betting. After craps, betting on football is the most fun you can have. Neither will win you too much money on average but they're both a ton of fun without question. Sports are an escape from the mundane life for most people. Things happen in real time and the fact that you can have a beer relax and route for one side or the other is pretty much war from a royal stand point on a much smaller scale. Don't fight it, just let it happen.

Kind of like a lot of things that used to be "guy" things that women have latched onto as they become less and less feminine by the day.....

Most of the chicks follow their college teams because it brings them back to the days when they were banging half of the football team because the football players "allowed them" the honor of completing their homework assignments for them (or wish they were the ones banging the football players).

Most chicks who follow pro ball (especially football) as posers at best, masculinized to the point of being undateable at worst.

Merchandising. Football, baseball, basketball, and even nascar all draw the bulk of their revenues from selling shirts, hats, and assorted junk.

The UFC is not quite as bad, but Tapout makes about 1/3 of what the UFC brings in yearly...and all they sell is merchandise; they don't bother with the actual sport. Affliction looks to have done better by just selling t-shirts than they did actually trying to hold mma events.

Awhile back I learned a very profound truth about business. It seems that during the gold rush in California, it wasn't the miners who were getting rich; it was the guys selling the picks and shovels to the miners who were taking home the loot.

I will never forget that.

I was completely blown away when I heard that Tapout was bringing in something like 100 million per year, when the UFC itself is only bringing in 300mil. That is fukking INSANE. What would you rather be doing, managing a bulky promotions company dealing with a whole bunch of employees and fighters vying for top dollar contracts, or run a t-shirt company where you slap logo's on shirts?

I'm doing something similar with my new business. I don't sell the main product itself, I manufacture products that make your life easier when you buy the product. Everything I sell is SUPER high profit with low overhead. I could literally run this business from a cell phone and internet connection anywhere in the world, without touching the product. It would go straight from the factory to a fulfillment center, which receives the orders from my website and turns around and ships them to wholesale and retail customers worldwide.

You can't judge 2 fighters based on the UFC ruleset.... thats bullsh1t... the toughest sun of a b1tch in a REAL fight is the guy who is prepared to put you 5 feet under in the first hit (not hard to do), I've seen children tougher than the monkeys who get in that ring. The scariest fvckers I know don't have muscles and have never been in a ring. Whats the point? Only the stupidest fighters use punches and kicks anyway, the easiest fastest way to disable someone is with one quick and clean technique... but you won't see those, they aren't good for tv. UFC is only popular with the beer and pretzels crowd aka people who still think its smart to fist fight. The discovery channel is more entertaining.

If they didn't have the rules that they do, then the loser would usually be the guy that got his eye gouged out first. And the winners wouldnt be able to consistently defend their titles because they'd be missing so much tissue, themselves. So rather than having recurring celebrities to enjoy, we'd just have Random Guy A and Random Guy B, every match. And the pool for potential fighters would be minuscule as well...

Yes I realized that almost all girls are totally posers when it comes to sports. They buy the jerseys and they cheer loudly like a man but they don't even know the rules. In fact I've seen girls watch football games and then comment about the tight butts of the players, they're not even paying attention to the game.

Yes the truly feminine girls are NOT into sports at all. I remember watching the NBA finals (Lakers VS Magic) on TV with this one super-cutie girl cause there was nothing else to do. Cool thing is, is that cause she's so feminine, she didn't try to pretend and holler loudly. She just sat there quietly watching, obviously bored to the max.

So just to play with her, I was like: 'So who do you want to win?'

She's like: 'Umm...LA'

I'm like: 'Why how come?'

She's like: 'Oh hollywood! I love LA!'
